the ending to the crazies because it leads to a cliffhanger sequel that is basically the same movie only in a city now of all things and the two main characters lived through a nuclear explosion... I MEAN COME ON DON"T DO THAT
Oh, I would have hated it to be a happy ending, but it was just too bleak after all he'd been through. Perhaps the Evil eating it's way into the real world? But no more parent killing. Please. It's a grab for the heart-strings without justification, imho.Wizco said:I understand what you are saying, but - too me - it came across as another way to show the audience what kind of d*ck-God there was in the Universe of this film. And I think the movie would have suffered a bit with a more happy ending, it would have stopped being 'canon'.
That's what I think.
Though it has been over four years since I last saw the film, so I could be remembering things wrong.
EDIT: Loved Brazil by the way
But this is what I'm guessing the movie was all about: The Evil meant nothing, nada. God was just playing around, looking too make something new and in the end he destroyed his creation, because he could.The_root_of_all_evil said:Oh, I would have hated it to be a happy ending, but it was just too bleak after all he'd been through. I saw it aged 12, I think. I had nightmares for weeks.Wizco said:And to be honest, it was not really a tear-jerking (or heartstring-jerking) ending.
Ohhh, um, wow... Sorry?The_root_of_all_evil said:I saw it aged 12, I think. I had nightmares for weeks.Wizco said:And to be honest, it was not really a tear-jerking (or heartstring-jerking) ending.
Worse endings, yeah. One's that bit down to your marrow after sweeping you along, not as much.Wizco said:Seriously, though, there are FAR WORSE endings than Time Bandits, even if it was... Emotionally scarring... Heheh... Eh?
The main difference being that the Time Paradox would not stimulate you to keep on thinking, for there was no deeper meaning; what the explosion ending did. But I can understand you personal dislike of the ending and I can imagine kids not really pondering on the question why a movie ended as it did, I know I didn't till a good five or six years ago.The_root_of_all_evil said:Worse endings, yeah. Carrie's ending is scary, but you're almost expecting that. Imagine if Back To The Future ended with Marty disappearing from existence in a paradox. That kind of WTF isn't good.
Haha yeah, nothing was cooler looking in that movie than the earth being scorched... but story-wise, a total "...lolwut?" moment.ethaninja said:Eh, I was just happy to see the Earth getting all blowed up and stuff so... I left satisfied =)Shru1kan said:Not gonna wade past the first page, but Nicholas Cage's "Knowing" movie was a giant WTF moment for me, and not in a good way. More of a "going to town on a girl and she leaves before you finish" sort of thing.
