What's up with the games this year?

Has anybody noticed that the games this year have so far been 'meh'? I mean, games like homefront turning out to be ugly looking and generic, or killzone 3 falling flat by worsening the already mediocre story...or dragon age 2...or any other game that had serious potential for a 9/10 but got like an 8 or less...The only awesome games this year were dead space 2 and lbp2, and I wasn't too fond of either.

Anybody else feel the same?

Well, Pokemon kicks ass. Who'd a thought that this generation would be the best since Gold/Silver.

Also Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Which while it does kick massive amounts of ass, the sparse online options are a kick in the nuts.

But the games ahead look kick-ass as all hell.

Witcher 2, Deus Ex 3, Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Infamous 2...

With Bulletstorm, Rift and Shogun I find myself overwhelmed by new Releases.

Ya seriously I think Portal 2 is gonna make this year. Even Valve is saying this is one of their better games and THAT'S really saying something

Start of a year is usually terrible for gaming.
The beginning of this year is actually better average.

Killzone 3 is better than "meh", imho. Dragon Age 2 is better than what most give it credit. Plus the best games usually don't come out until September. Duke Nukem Forever, Deus Ex, Rage, Brink, Elder Scrolls 5, etc. are coming out this year and that's just skimming on the top of the list of games I'm getting.

Dragon Age 2 is out now. Skyrim and Dark Souls will be out in the fall. If those were the only three games that came out this year, I would still call it a good year.

Pokemon B&W and Killzone 3 have proven strong GOTY contenders for me already. Good times so far.

Dragon Age 2 is just too much side-questing, with proper pacing, it'd be a GOTY contender, too.

We're getting Portal 2 soon; hang in there! Motorstorm Apocolypse will be out around Portal 2's release date.

Shogun 2 is fine for me so far, good reviews all round, and I've not heard any serious complaints about it.

Dragon Age 2 was good, not quite GOTY quality, but still fun.
Shogun looks pretty fun.

Oh, Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 are comming out at the end of the year. Any year with those two games in it has to be awesome.

Homefront is way better than "meh" in my opinion.

But with Gears 3, Deus Ex, and Arkham City down the road, this year is going to be hard to beat.
