Its not really a purely LoL issue when it comes to a community, its a DOTA issue. The community has been like this since DOTA All-Stars back in WC3 days and will continue to be that way until the end of time. If you don't see it in DoTA 2 now, give it time to get out of beta and you'll see it then.

This is the kind of thing that gets bred from hyper-competitive games, at least in mid-high and up ranked stuff.

On the plus side, if you just screw around in lower unranked stuff the community is generally pretty cool. No one usually cares if you're a terrible jungler or you have a tendency to push because you suck hardcore at last hits (totally me) because everyone in that bracket is terrible at that stuff.

Well my reason for hating that game is because in ages past "2 years ago" i convinced my friends to try out lol for fun. And we had loads of fun with it the first year, then i grew tired of the game, but my friends had formed something of a addiction to it. And here i am, playing games by myself as my friends only play lol, and the only thing i hear when we speak over skype is how they swear while playing it.

The game itself i have no trouble with.

They're pretty similar aren't they? I mean I know there's differences and there's a lot of room for preferences within them, but if anyone wants to act like "Dota2 = best game ever, LoL = worst game ever" then they're going to come across as having only ever played two games.

Well I guess the thing is that they are basically the same thing but rivals
So the ones playing DoTa can't possibly think of themselves playing LoL and vice versa
So you bash the other game, you being superior
If the DoTa fanbase is growing then automatically the threads and size of the hate against its competitor also grows

As for me I play LoL occassionally, I like the game "DoTa" since my WarcraftIII days and think LoL is a nice version of it. I don't see why hating LoL would be any good, why you'd hate about half of the people who play it is completely understandable thou. They might be nice people IRL but damn there are many who turn complete dicks when playing that game.

I've played quite a lot of both games (500+ games in Dota 2 and I got to 30 and played a few ranked games in LoL) and... I prefer Dota 2 simply because there's more consequence to your actions. I think that's the thing which most people mean when they say LoL is more casual.

An example of this is (haven't played in a while, assuming it's still in the game) flash. You're pretty much given a free get away on any champ whereas in Dota only certain heroes have blinks -not counting dagger- and they're balanced around that fact.

Same deal with abilities, in LoL there's much shorter cooldowns which make it so there's less penalty for messing up but with that said there's more skillshots in LoL so it kind of balances it out.

Anyway I play neither anymore and none of that matters because in the end... Team Fortress 2 is the best MOBA.

Edit: I just realised I said nothing about the hate... so here it goes: both communities are full of idiots. Also, as already stated LoL is popular, people hate popular things.

Also people never stop fucking pushing (then complaining about the lack of ganks)
Yay someone who gets it!
Freaking stupid how many people don't get basic plays.
Then they keep pushing and keep getting ganked, don't take any advice because they think they're great and you're terrible.
I actually don't mind if people are bad, I just hate it when they think they're the greatest and abuse everyone else.

Taking me to my final point, Lol is full of scum and I think that's the main reason people hate it.

And the last one I remember is an item that removes all CC from an ally and does... Something else. Heals them I think.
Mikael's Crucible. As a support, this shiz is amazing, it's 150+15% of an ally's missing hp, and gets rid of all CC, while giving mp5, mr and mana. It makes non-heal supports like lulu a chance to heal multiple people in a fight. If I drop lulu's ult, help pix, and whimsy on my carry when the entire enemy team jumps him/her, watch the carry nob one of them, and then use Crucible, we're going to win that fight. At full level I'm giving out roughly 1000 extra hp in the shield/ult combo, and then crucible will using the missing hp from my ult (which is around 700) to give more hp. It's brilliant.

Okay here's the thing. I like both games, I play both games, I play League a lot more extensively, HOWEVER I think that League is the inferior game. I don't respect it and I think that it's on the same slide that World of Warcraft got put on because of the developers turning greedy.

Riot, or I guess Tencent, continuously raise prices and release the same old rehashed content day in and day out. The sheep in the community just continue to buy the crap they bring out. It's just tiring.

On top of that, League is finnicky. There are certain periods where the game can be unplayable, like now. At least to me, some people might enjoy the unbalanced nature of it. The new items are a mess, AD casters are WAY too strong, most AP casters are outshined, manaless casters with sustained damage (Akali, Kat etc) dominate while armor is now reduceable by about 80%. Seriously, the game has turned into "whoever has Ezreal and more AD bruisers wins". Champions like Lee Sin, Ezreal and Akali just stomp all games.

This isn't the first time it's happened though, there have been periods in the past where it's been the same, like when Morde was able to 1v5 teams, Gunblade dominated everything with its stackability and Tryndamere was 3 shotting tanks. It's just the inconsistency of the balance of the game that makes me dislike it.

DotA 2 doesn't have these problems. The game is laid out a lot nicer with a much greater learning curve. On top of this, the community is a lot better than that of League, not everyone is a trolling A hole who's just poison to the League community.

Also, when you die in DotA 2, it's generally YOUR fault. You weren't beaten because Karthus' ult shot you down to 5fps, you weren't beaten because the enemy snuck into your bush while the lane was pushed and you weren't killed because the enemy Blitz happened to grab you because there was no creep wave. you were killed because you over extended, got caught out by the enemy or blocked yourself inbetween trees with creeps.

Finally, in DotA 2, skill MATTERS. If you're getting kills, you're contributing a lot to your team. If you're denying creeps, you're stopping their carry from farming. If you're supporting correctly, you're taking your team into end game. In league none of this matters most of the time. If you play League, flash is the solve all key to everything and even if you do die, the enemy team gets barely anything for it, League always just boils down to who has the stronger champions. If you have champions like Lee Sin, Ezreal, Katarina, Shen, Darius and Leona, then you're going to beat the enemy team who has less than 3 tanks.

Sorry if what I'm saying makes little sense... I just pulled an all nighter to kick my sleeping habits back into shape.
FINALLY! SOMEONE ELSE WHO FEELS MY PAIN!

Still Blitz "happened" to grab you? Surely it's your fault you got grabbed because you couldn't juke it no? Keep out of range until the next minion wave? It's what I do.

I'm pretty sure if you had LS, Ez, Kat, Shen, Dunkmaster and Leo you would win. 6v5 would tend to do that XD

And ward the lane bushes. Gawd. People and their lack of wards... It's a crying shame, it really is. I have noticed the trend lately when at some point in the transition from early to mid game Purple Team's bot lane will get 4 man ganked, both die then lose their tower. It happens almost every game and I honestly don't remember it being that common in Season 2...

The absolute chaos in the game now is hilarious. I will say the amount of armour pen is stupid as it stands now, you're right about that. The League of Cleavers is still very much alive, i'm sad to say.

I'm waiting for someone to find out that X item is stupid on Y Champion. Ezreal is OP? Really? Are you supposed to build a Cleaver on him now or am I missing the point? He's good sure, but he still requires some skill to play well. The amount of times i've missed a kill by fucking up my last Mystic Shot are uncountable. His autoattack range makes up for his other high ranged abilities. He has to be in their faces to autoattack and that's super bad for a carry. Caitlyn is my Try Hard Mode AD carry because of her crazy safe attack range and escapes. Ez is my "just having fun" AD because he's such a troll when you think about it. Getting chased by 3 guys? Better keep pew pewing at them while running away :3 Oh I just jumped a wall on 50HP, you mad bro?

It must say something about the game when Riot introduces a Champion with a stupid skill ceiling, buffs her three times (I think she is getting buffed again next patch as well,) she has literally the highest post 6 burst damage in the entire game statistically and NOBODY plays her. Even the highest level players. Why play Syndra when you can play Win Nao and/or Free Win?

They keep going on about "skill ceilings" on the new people like Nami having to choose who to heal/damage, Elise having 2 modes, Vi having the most finnicky and unreliable Q in the game yet people will always prefer the guy who has 15% armour pen active all game and has the most reliable CC I have ever seen. It's annoying. Completely understandable, but annoying nonetheless.

To be fair, in most solo queue games, it is about skill. People can get outplayed all day and laugh baiting is still the most effective strategy ever created. I guess 5 man premade teams are about skill even moreso. We can literally build a perfect synergy team from scratch but one mistake throws the game.

At least Riot is chilling out on the new Champion releases. The next one hasn't even been teasered yet.

It's a really fun game, I suppose it's a broken game as well at the moment but in my opinion that just makes it more fun. Like how MW2's multiplayer was the best CoD multiplayer ever made. So much broken shit. SO FUN.

I was just hoping there were a deeper reason than "they hate it because they picked the loser"
Saying DOTA 2 fans picked the loser is like saying Spain fans picked the loser for the next world cup (2014). DOTA 2 is in beta dude. Half the features aren't finished. The biggest and most competitive part of the DOTA scene isn't even playing DOTA 2 yet, everyone in China is still playing the old Warcraft 3 version.
I'm really tired of the "it's in beta" excuse, because everyone and their dog can get a copy of it and it's being sold at full price. And honestly, I still like to call it "DotA:HD" putting a "2" on the end implies they added something. But being a blatant copy/paste with nothing new whatsoever but a new coat of paint... well... That's like saying "Hey, have you played Ocarina of Time 2 on the 3DS?"

I don't blame the game for rage, but yeah I know that feeling, my friends on skype swear and yell and get mad as all heck while playing LoL, I'm just running around having fun though. (ironically I also always end up doing the best...)

Perhaps the same could be said of all religions- I mean Moba's.
This said I still love Demigod (except Regulas...), but I'm not running around bashing everything else because of that...

Because DOTA 2 is more complex than LoL. That's a fact.
Except in...
Viable Characters (LoL - 92% vs Dota2 - 14% in champion use in tournament play)
Resource Types (LoL - Mana/Energy/Fury/Rage/Shield/Heat/Cooldown vs Dota2 - Mana)
Character Customization (LoL - 13 adjustable stats vs Dota2 - 3)
Innovation (LoL - Original characters and new ones every 3-4 weeks vs Dota2 - Copy/paste WC3)

So you may want to go look up what "fact" means, because I don't think it means what you think it means...

Skill doesn't matter in LoL? I should try that game out. Don't they have like $1,000,000 prize tournaments? I might as well give it a go, if I've got as much chance as anybody else.

I'm not a fan of LoL. I picked up the game, tried it, found I didn't like it, and walked away. I do not rage and post hate for the game all over the place, I just usually go around like it doesn't exist most of the time. If I do say anything about the game, I usually pick on my friends that play it, more for how they act around it than anything. When my friends get together, even though it is very clear I don't play and dislike the game, every conversation eventually boils down to "how is this character done right?" Well, how the hell do I know, I don't play the game. They've also pretty much thrown out their other hobbies because of the time they spend on that game. Our friendly games of magic turn into a table full of laptops with one guy screaming at his computer screen because he sucks at the game but thinks its because everyone else is a bad player, the next guy telling someone else that they are really good, and half a dozen other people pretty much saying "You're doing it wrong, do it this way."

In short, I don't hate LoL. I do, however, get very annoyed by my friends that play it.

I was talking about straight gameplay mechanics and nothing else. Don't get snippy with me mister! Call me when LoL introduces denying, Couriers, shitty tower mechanics etc etc then we'll talk. Actually no, if denying gets into LoL I am beyond out of that game entirely. Thankfully Riot understands what "fun" is.

Is the viability rate of Champions really that high? Sejauni is the worst character in the game, several AP mids have practically disappeared for no reason (they're still good, don't get me wrong) and if every Champion is viable why was everybody running Ezreal and/or Sona in the S2 Championships?

If DOTA really has LESS viable people than LoL then that is so, so sad. LoL has a decent number of competitive picks but come on, if somebody picks Viktor, Shaco, Garen or some others in a pro game I will buy a hat then eat it.

Yeah runes and masteries are good customisation aspects, I like running move speed quints on everybody except my AD carrys and Fiora.

The variety of characters is what makes LoL stand out I will agree. I have seen multiple gameplays of almost all characters in DOTA and they all look utterly boring. Meanwhile, in LoL:

"POWER SLAM!" "TO THE SKIES!!"

Yeah i'm into Jayce at the moment. He's so awesome!

Really it looks like you're trying to argue with someone who already agrees with you. I just never expected someone to take the "complex" part of my post and extend it out of only gameplay mechanics.

To DOTA2 fans, League of Legends is an "imitation" of the original DOTA mod in WC3. People conveniently forget that DOTA-style mods were around on Battle.net long before DOTA was (the earliest dates back to Starcraft). DOTA just took off in terms of popularity, and people retroactively assumed it was the first of its kind.

So a lot of guys who play DOTA2 today think that LoL is an imitator, and that people who got started playing LoL aren't "real" players. Cue fanbase hate. This is also ignoring that DOTA2 and LoL were both made by guys who worked on the original DOTA mod in WC3, so saying that one is less complex or difficult than the other is kind of ridiculous - they're basically the same game.

It doesn't help that the fanbase for MOBA games in general are incredibly toxic. The GIFT hits those games pretty hard for some reason. That's why I stopped playing DOTA in WC3. I couldn't get back into now even if I tried - the community is incredibly hostile to outsiders or "noobs."
