I played in the Alpha and loved every second of it, but this statement still caused a tiny flicker of rage. The experience was very intense but I'd say it's going much too far to say it makes you feel like your actually at war. Hyperbole I know but statements like this bug me.MercurySteam said:Also BF3 qualifies but it has a truly gripping MP experience that really pulls you in and makes it feel like you're actually at war.
Easy killer. I don't hate ADS. I just don't think that EVERY shooter after cod has to be waist high walls and ADS.JoesshittyOs said:Aim Down Sights has been the best mechanic added to shooters since the twin stick.DexterNorgam said:I think the biggest problem I have with COD is that it's had a rather chilling effect on innovation in the shooter genre.
Which keeps people making ADS shooters, or at least shooters that borrow heavily.
The appeal of an FPS in the first place is to feel more immersed so that you are seeing through the eyes of the character you are playing, and when the character you are playing manages to kill hundreds of enemies by shooting from the hip, it gets a tad bit ridiculous. It's lazy game design if you won't go to the trouble of doing ADS.
CoD saved the FPS genre, not destroyed it.
OT: People hate what is popular. People hate Activision. It's pretty much as simple as that.
It's as close as we're going to get for video games, that's for sure. I know it's not really mature to call war awesome (and I know that people in the army would be pissed off by it) but as for simulating a battle with buildings coming down, tanks rolling over, mortar strikes coming down and attack choppers raining fire, Battlefield does a great job at creating a war scenario for us gamers to revel in, and everything that happens is controlled by the players and virtually nothing is scripted.Techno Squidgy said:I played in the Alpha and loved every second of it, but this statement still caused a tiny flicker of rage.
