Spiderman new intro

I loved the old Spiderman Cartoons...no matter how hard i partied the night before i never missed it (unless i had to go to work...which made me bent) i was unaware there was a newer one, and judging by the animation and the intro, i dont think i'd like it all that much.
I grew up w/ the old-school Tex Avery cartoons, and even around the time the 94' Spiderman came out i was having these feeling that cartoons just are'nt what they used to be. Yes i had some favorites..EEk the Cat, Rocco's Modern Life, hell even Re-Boot (wasnt all that bad, Ghostbusters, and the list can go on for a bit...i think it has a little to do w/ age...but me and my GF babysit sometimes, and i get to catch some of the newer cartoons, and even though i never liked wrestling id take http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCuaYr4SOks over some of the new stuff they spew out for kids these days
Actually, give Spectacular Spider-Man a chance, once you get past the animation style, it's really good, and gets pretty dark at times. Plus, I find that Spidey's much more sarcastic in this show.
Thank you. Spectacular Spider-Man is so much better than that crappy-ass '90's version (and one of the few modern cartoons that are any good). The '90's one went cross-eyed stupid with it's second season, but even before that it had absolutely bland animation and so-so writing. Spectacular had good plotting (some of the writers worked on Gargoyles) and some great reimaginings of the supporting cast and classic villains which didn't crap all over them. The animation was simpler, but it allowed for some great action scenes, so I didn't mind. EDIT: Plus, Spectacular had the better theme song. The first one was trashy, wannabe rock, while the latter is at least catchy.

Too bad it got cancelled.

Not all 80's cartoons are totally lame like He-man and Thundercats. I enjoyed watching Robotech on Saturday mornings and the Mysterious Cities of Gold after school during the week.

You think you had it bad?

In my day we used to have to eat the snow on the way! It was our only meal for a week.

It's because cartoons are becoming stupider, they are being made for the simple minded, the farther in time we go the more simple minded things will become, good cartoons ended with Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry at least Tom and Jerry is still on in the mornings.

Maybe its age, but something has been pretty off with todays cartoons, the las decent little piece was "the grimm adventures of billy and mandy" filled with black humor, obscure and strange situations, and a somehow grown up sarcasm and dark comedy, not to mention the never ending gross outs billy could always afford to pitch in, but ever sence that I have notice an incredibly decrease of cartoons, unlikable pitchy voiced kids, ogly big eyes and drawings that resemble a bit to much of anime style and of course the new computer bloeated cartoons that just fell like getting pweked in the eyes, what happened to arnold and roccos modern life? where did the pinky and the brain run of to? the only new thing that actually feels likable is the misadventures of flapjack, the rest just seem like blurs in existence unnenteresting cartoon characters, and naruto...god I hate that show. maybe its age...maybe i shoyld stop watching cartoons and go jerkoff to porn like normal 15 year olds? well...as always just a thought

P.S: fell free to name youre favorite (old or new) cartoon (if you got the cojonies)
I know why. Since society has become extremely touchy on any given subject lately regarding violence and media censorship, cartoon developers are afraid to take steps forward because of the fear that people will find something controversial within said cartoon and try to ban it. Before every piece of media was scrutinized, cartoon developers were allowed the freedom of expressing what they though was funny to their audiences. For example, Looney Toons involved dynamite and people getting shot in the head, as well as crushing people with boulders and the like. I think that everyone here can agree that it was a great show, but in today's society cartoons like these would not be allowed. Panicky, overprotective parents try to shun things like these from their children. Really what they are doing is providing them a misservice and trying to rationalize what the world is really like. Even though in the long run, it doesn't make them aware and it certainly doesn't keep them away from violence. Sorry everyone, got a little sidetracked there. :D

Well, what ISN'T wrong with todays cartoons. Today's cartoons suck ass. The 90's were the golden age for cartoons. And the early 2000's. Anyone remember Invader Zim? Gawd I love that show. "Gir! What are you doing?!!?!?", (Excited and Overzealous reply) "I'M WATCHING TEE VEE!"

I am a little older than most, but our after school line-up was great. Ducktales, TaleSpin, Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers, Tiny Toons, then Animaniacs (unfortunately all this was followed by back to back episodes of Full House).

I loved all those shows....oh and the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the morning while you got ready for school.

One reuses scenes over and over and has bland fights, while the other has very accurate fight scenes and actual quips?
I wouldn't use the word 'accurate'. Entertaining, perhaps. Though, honestly, I find that to be the -only- superior aspect in the Spectacular-series

I remember when I was a kid, I always had a hard time choosing between Rugrats and The Simpsons after watching Chip N' Dale, because they came on at the same time.

Now I have to say this but I can go back and watch things like the Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain I will still laugh but if I sit in with my little brother and watch his crappy cartoons I never laugh once. Its just plain not funny.

It's because they look down to children, not up. The old days had plenty of things children wouldn't get, but they kept them in anyway, and they were better for it.

Nowadays, everything is totally tailored to make sure that nothing that's too advanced for the kiddies gets in. Fuck that. How else are you going to learn?
I second this, todays cartoons are stupider. Just for kids, and not for adults, unlike back in the good old days of the sharp writing of the 90s. I'm not sure whether it's the kids or the cartoons themselves, but they're getting dumber. I don't think we'll ever see anything quite like this again

Wow, that's amazing! Can't believe I never saw that episode before...

I love cartoons that are a little subversive, like Animaniacs.

My favourite for adult humour had to be Danger Mouse though, it wasn't rude or anything, just a lot of Goon Show-esque surreal gags that I missed as a kid, but laugh my tits off at nowadays.
I wish I was older. Then I wouldn't been born later, and I'd be able to watch stuff. Like that. ("Party Submission Position" could be a date rape joke.)

Heh, I was lucky. The Simpsons were on at prime time, not after school. Rugrats was a good weekend show, though I think I watched that more when I was older.

A big part of me wants to say its because of Nostalgia.
Nothing will compare with watching old cartoons with the wonder of a child.

Granted since they replaced the great cartoons of the past with things like "CN Real" and Cartoon Cartoon Fridays with that fried piece of shit known as "Fried Dynamite", I'm not so sure.

One things for sure though, cartoons lost a lot of balls.
Remember Courage the Cowardly Dog? That show had balls, and if you tried to show something like that these days, shit would hit the fan. I remember its last episode... god damn that was sad.

Both "Perfect" and the one where he lost his parents to that dick of a veterinarian. Both those episodes taught me that no one is perfect, and fuck anyone else who tries to force you to be perfect. And in the latter, it taught me to love and cherish my parents. Because they can be taken away instantly at any time.

And don't even get me started on Megas XLR. Whoever cancelled that deserves to be mauled.

What do cartoons these days teach kids?
I totally agree with you over Megas...we should get a petition started to bring it back on!

It makes me one very, very sad panda.

It was primetime for me, too, IIRC. IIRC, Chip N' Dale came on at 7, and Simpsons/Rugrats came on at 7:30.
