That's quite funny as it caught my attention whilst watching Totalbiscuit be shit at it. If you like roguelikes, you should by all means enjoy this game. The items, while some are expectedly lame, they still all serve some sort of purpose and feel (mostly) useful. Although you start with one class at the beginning, and it's not a bad one, you'll probably be eager to unlock another class, though it's good as all the classes feel unique and somewhat balanced. Multiplayer is fun, whether it be local or online. My biggest complaint is that once you get near the end, the framerate starts to dip, and with that, the speed of the game. It's really weird, ESPECIALLY in online multiplayer. My friends computer is a bit worse than mine and sometimes falls 5 seconds behind me in terms of a countdown timer. It's kinda weird, but not a deal breaker for me.SkarKrow said:How is Risk of Rain? It caught my attention whilst watching Jimothy Sterling be shit at it.
Sounds interesting, the biggest gripe I have with games that are a bit random are when they havbe tonnes of items that are totally worthless and are mostly fleshed out with grind.windlenot said:That's quite funny as it caught my attention whilst watching Totalbiscuit be shit at it. Huh, guess I had a lot to say. Bottom line, if you like this genre of games and take the time to get used to it, as it's a but unforgiving at first, you should enjoy it plenty.
EDIT: typo
"What is a game" is quite a complex and interesting topic, and one I feel merits discussion, but after a good amount of consideration I came to a definition that I think works for me, that being "a number of interactive systems that interact with one other, designed with the specific purpose of creating a feeling or emotion in the user". This is, of course, just what I decided "game" means for myself, and can, and likely will, be debated.SirBryghtside said:What would you define as a game, and how do you feel Katawa Shoujo differs from that? No real reason for asking, it's just a topic I find interestingRariow said:Also, my favorite strongly game-like experience which presents itself as a game but I can't quite bring myself to classify as one of this year is Katawa Shoujo, which I now apparently have to mention by law in every post I make on these forums. I did technically begin playing it last year, but I only got through one of the five paths before the year turned over and stuff. I just want to mention Katawa Shoujo some more. Go play/read/experience it. It's really damn good.![]()
You know, the sad thing is, if they would've just focused on actually making the ****ing game instead of screwing around with their ****s the whole time, it really could have blown people away. The premise is sound, the base gameplay would be great, and the multiplayer would have been awesome. But **** THAT! Let's make a super misleading demo and play Pass the Blame when it comes out!JoJo said:While there were some really good lesser known or not-so-well received games in 2013, there's only one game I can award this title to: Aliens: Colonial Marines. There graphics were like nothing I've ever seen before and the AI truly unique, I never knew what they would do next. The game perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the Alien franchise into one game and so there is no contender more deserving of GOTY than is A:CM.
Whilst I agree you do realise you can swear on The Escapist right?? So long as you aren't directly insulting another user of the site.Arnoxthe1 said:You know, the sad thing is, if they would've just focused on actually making the ****ing game instead of screwing around with their ****s the whole time, it really could have blown people away.
