Well seeing other people's posts, I can safely say that I have no idea what anime is and have probably been deprived of anything good growing up (I liek da pokemans though). With that out of the way, I'd have to say Death Note(except for the end) or Code Geass since they're the only things I've watched that didn't have filler every other episode, if I remember correctly.

Agreed. And Kanon too. Both made me cry.

My second favorite is Bokurano, makes you kinda think about your own mortality and the value of life.

It's too difficult to put the rest in order.
never heard of those two
You should be ashamed for never hearing of the first one (that is, if you are a true anime fan)
And the second one is understandable, since it's incredibly underrated.
I've never seen it at Borders in the DVD or Manga Section, what kind of anime is it? Action, Adventure, Romance...hentai...No I'm kidding LOL
A word of warning: Judging from the favourites you mention in the OP, I do not think you will like Clannad. It is not an action-anime by any stretch of the word. It is a tear jerking, beautiful, masterpiece of emotions, and it is rather calm and takes the form of a school-life anime. There is some comedy, but the gags are far between, and not really accentuated.

It is not something you watch for its enterainment value. You watch it to be touched deep down in your heart (Of course, you have to watch After story as well).

Edit: I love the Fuko avatar, sennius.

Ah~ Clannad's so good it hurts. X3

OT: Tie between The Minami-ke Series, Seto no Hanayome, and the Clannad series.
Now that I think about it, the only thing these have in common is a bit of comedy. Minami-ke is a slice-of-life comedy, Seto no Hanayome is pure hyper-comedy, while Clannad is a romance, drama, with comic relief(and a bit of tragedy). All awesome, though.

EDIT: Really hope that whole "never heard of them" comment was a joke...

The best Anime of all time hands down, bar none, forever is TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN.
This how will take the scale of eveything cool to ever happen and leave it in the dust. That happens in the first 10 seconds of episode 1 it gets better from there

Gentlemen, gentlemen; 66 posts and no Neon Genesis Evangelion? For shame. (Well, either that or Gurren Lagann. Depends on my mood.)

EDIT: Booster, you crafty ninja bastard!

I really don't understand what people find so appealing about it i mean i watched DBZ when i was in middle school and to this day still do.(I love Bruce Falconer's BGM) A lot of my friends are into it,one of them turned me on to a french anime movie called Princess and i loved it I was so impressed i was never that emotionally connected to anything my friend has showed me in the last 8 years it was a great film.

If anyone else has seen Princess let me know what you thought thanks.

Now and Then, Here and There comes to mind when talking about favorites.

Escaflowne = A fine example of how awesome opposites attract.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya = Very lovable cast.

Kanon (2006) = Best harem anime ever made.

Most of Studio Ghibli's movies are really good.

Eden of East = Bourne series in a pretty cool way.

Nyan Koi = Harems that involves cats and curses.

R.O.D. OVA = James Bond with super powers.

Sekirei = Pokemon with incredibly alluring females.

Shakugan no Shana = Badass girl + Badass sword.

A Certain Magical Index = X-Men for Japan and more awesome.

Tales of the Abyss = A very good adaption of the video game.

Tales of Vesperia ~First Strike~ = Maybe the first good video game/movie adaption.

Fullmetal Alchemist is an awesome manga. Check out it's Brotherhood anime.

Future Diary = Apparently Death Note but with diaries.

Oh God, CLANNAD is quite literally the only media that has ever made me cry. EVER. Love it (and the Fuko avatar). As for other favorites; Spice and Wolf, Banner of the Stars, and occasionally Evangelion round it out for me. Full Metal Panic is good too
