Being British, my two favourites are John Smiths (bitter) and Tuborg (Lager).
Though I'm more of a cider man myself.
John Smiths is about as hideous a swill as bitter can possibly be.

For good bitter try Courage Directors, London Pride, or Batemans XXXB.

I don't really have a favourite these days. Most cask ales hit the spot, don't drink Lager much though, doesn't have the body or flavour to satisfy.

I tend toward porters and ales, I may have a more considered opinion after my Germany trip this summer.

I typically drink whatever is given to me or buy whatever others prefer best.
Which, typically is Bud Light or Coors Light since I'm from the US and not so fancy with so many different varieties of beer and whatnot.

Give me a rum and coke any day over a beer either way. I prefer hard liquor.

Guinness. The worst days all slip away with a good Guinness.
True until you go to Ireland and realise they are keeping the 'real' Guinness to themselves, that stuff really is the best drink there is. The stuff they ship to the UK is the low grade and after I'd tasted the original and best I couldn't bring myself to drink the crap they sell over here.

Spirits > Beer anyway. Give me a whiskey or rum please xD
About the Guinness, at least Guinness actually makes your Guinness. In the US it's made at the Anhauser Busch Plant where they make Bud Light and fizzy yellow wussy beers. Damn Co-Ops. But your right about one thing...I'll take Jamesons over Guinness anyday

I'm actually a little surprised that none of you yanks mentioned Budweiser, but I can understand. It's not like it's real beer anyway:p
Be fair to our American Friends,

I'm sure that Americans who actually ENJOY drinking beer wouldn't claim that Budweiser is worth drinking.
Budweiser is to beer what Lucas is to electronics (for those who don't understand the metaphor Lucas Electrics have possibly the shittiest track record in the business) Budweiser is acceptable to drink in only one situation: If it's all you can afford.

And for a great beer, try Aventenus. From what I was told it is brewed then strained over Poppy Plants.

Heineken for me please! A taste of the homeland (since I am dutch, and unlike what most people believe, Heineken is in fact from Holland, NOT Germany!) XP

Pater Lieven whenever I can get my hands on it which is difficult because you can't get it in Holland or at least not where I live.

Otherwise Hertog Jan or Leffe or if I want to be drunk inside of an hour Kasteel beer.(after three of those crawling becomes difficult never mind walking)

I'd say Guiness.

I need to get round to mixing some Grog, though.

Carling of course, there is nothing better than the UK's own :D However, I suppose Heineken and Budweiser are OK too... (although being 18 I was annoyed when in Florida last year and couldn't drink, while I can in the UK, since your age to drink alcohol is older than over here...) However, it must be said that I'll drink anything, Sambuca, Vodka, Tequila (sod the salt and lemon, I'll have it straight :D). Oh, and some of my flatmates had absinthe in Fresher's Week and almost passed out after one shot, but since it's like 90% alcohol that's not surprising. I'd probably go for that too, though.

EDIT: I should mention that the greatest alcoholic beverage there is would have to be mulled wine, however. It's quite strong (concentrated with the mulling process) and tastes awesome. A family friend actually does mulled cider every year too, at Christmas, he uses lots of cider and red wine and adds pretty much every alcohol he can get his hands on, including whisky. A lot of it. The result needs to be seen (and tasted) to believe it :D.

Pretty much any variety of Bell's beer. I am actually fortunate enough to live where it is made (Kalamazoo) and Bell's is about a mile from my house. Currently I'm enjoying the destructive powers of Hopslam which is 10% by volume. It's a really hoppy beer but I like it.
Man, I spent a year at Western, and everyone went absolutely apeshit when Oberon came out for the year. And yes, Bell's is a pretty delicious brewery.

I tend to like my local breweries, though, on the other side of the state. Atwater Block's Vanilla Java Porter is heavenly for a pint or two with dinner. Rochester Mill's Black IPA is amazing, and I'm not what you'd call a fan of IPAs in general. Although their IPA isn't overwhelming. The Brickshot ESB is also delicious, as is their Chocolate Milkshake Stout and Paint Creek Porter.

I also love going to Whole Foods Market, and just staring at their selection. They have St. Peter's Brewery Cream Stout, and I have to say that is pretty much amazing. Better, arguably, than even Guinness. Yum. There's another liquor store in the area, and they've got a bigger selection, but I'm pretty much a paralyzed, drooling wreck when I try and decide in that store.

In general, I'm definitely a fan of darker beers such as porters and stouts. As far as ciders I've had, Strongbow and K, I'd have to say they're pretty much chick drinks. They're ok, I suppose, but I'll take a pass.

I have only started drinking beer, so I gotta go with Coors. I am thinking about getting some Guinness in honor of St.Pattys day though

I don't drink beer, it tastes funny and it makes me sneeze.
I drink what most people my age would: Alcopops.
Not the best thing in the world but no alcohol is good.
