What's your favorite element?

Hydrogen. Mainly because it's the simplest element and so there isn't too much of that quantum mechanics shenanigans to make me cry.

Arguably the most important element in the universe as well.

Thorium, it's named after a guy with a giant hammer, is easily convertible into uranium and there is more energy stored in all the Thorium on Earth than all the uranium and fossil fuels combined. The kind of crap I learn from reading the illustrated periodic table in my physcis room.

I was in Chemistry the other day, and was trying to figure out what my favorite element was. So I put the same question to you, fellow escapists. What is your favorite element, and why?

To start, mine is magnesium because it burns a very bright white.
