Top 5...

5)The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Truly an epic game. I dont care that you play a little kid version of link. From my knowledge all of the originall 2D Zelda's had little kid links and for the most part of Ocarina of Time and all of Majora's Mask you did the same. SO THERE HA!

4)Dink Smallwood - Honestly, some of the best things in life are free. Search "Dink Smallwood free download" on google to download the game. Its not even just one game. At its main website you can download(for free) tons of fan made mods that add to the epicness of this truly great story.

3)Final Fantasy X - Yeah I know everyone thinks VII is the best but I personaly not only like the story of X better then all other Final Fantasy's but the combat system is un-doubtedly the most fun.

2)Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence - Not only are the controls perfect(asides from no movement while in first person) but the story, gameplay, characters, replay value and over all feeling of epicness make this not only the greatest console game of all time but my personal favourite MGS of all time.

1)RealMYST - No game has ever combined claustrophopia and exploration so perfectly. Although not intended to be a horror game, I dare you to play through this game and not feel(at least once) an unsettling feeling like theres something watching you. You will never once encounter an enemy but being completely alone means that you dont have to. Combine the creepy over-tones with the vast world to explore and deep mind bending puzzles to solve make this my absolute favourite game of all time EVER!

I expect lots of TL;DR replies. Dont worry, im use to it.

Personally, I loved Wind Waker and FF:X.

But, my favorite of all time? ...

Paper Mario. The first one and the second one - but the first was the best. The one for the Wii is horrible.

Final fantasy 7 as it was the first game I ever owned. But I also have a soft spot for Monkey Island 2

Mass Effect by far.
The reason being it's exactly the kind of game I've always longed to play. Not to mention the voice acting, graphics, gameplay and (most importantly) the characterization, were top notch. Roll on M.E.2! Left 4 Dead is in there too - as I'm a big Zombie fan, but not so much of the old-school variety - I like my undead to run! ;) Crackdown was fantastic fun to play (still is) and on the original Xbox, I thought Max Payne, Fahrenheit (a.k.a. Indigo Prophecy), Deus Ex: Invisible War, Syberia II, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey and Call of Cthulhu http://www.callofcthulhu.com - the latter being pretty unbeatable for atmosphere and general all-round creepiness in a game on that platform I reckon.

The original 2 or 3 Tomb Raider games on the PS1 before they started to suck, Corporation, Another World, ToeJam and Earl, Earthworm Jim and Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Megadrive. Oh, and Shadows of The Empire on the N64 - I thought that rocked at the time.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Incredible game, great puzzles, fantastic story, the two strongest and most real characters I've ever seen in a game, and the best platforming I've ever seen. Its also the one game thats brought me so, SO close to bursting into tears.
I wanted to burst into tears on the ascending platform when stupid farah kept getting her ass killed!

Wonderful game though...

I'd pick Canis Canem Edit, or Bully as America knows it. It turned out to completely stuff all allegations of it being a bully simulator down the media's throat, it had a pretty good, original story, a great premise, rarely-visited-in-games locations such as the residential area and the fairground, good graphics for its generation (something Rockstar never managed with GTA, maybe as GTA needs a much bigger draw distance), and, I don't know really. Something about the entire experience of playing it made me fall in love with it. It was also awesome to unlock the go-kart for use anywhere then run into nerds with it.

Probably Warcraft 3.
Really? Whoa.

Not to attack anyone's choice but I'm amazed to see any relatively modern games on people's lists. Mainly because they are (generally) poor copies with enhanced graphics of their older less visually erotic siblings.

For me I'd say Pokemon Red and Blue were a big turning point for me and gaming. I'd never seen a game rock the entirety of my social life in such a way before it. Goldeneye came close but it didn't rocket throughout my entire school like Pokemon did.

It really depends on the genre because racing cant be compared with a shooter, but going against that previous statement i would say Fallout 3, it has everything.
