I've always seen potential in the Driver series, squandered by a whole lot of bad design choices.
What I really want to see is a Grand Theft Auto-style free roam game. The game is set in the 70s, and it has the soundtrack, car physics and handling, and sound design of Driver: Parallel Lines (Seriously, the cars in that game sounded fantastic), as well as the realistic vehicle damage of that game. The game spans three locations, based on real-life locations as the driver series always has been (Perhaps a return to Nice, I loved that location in Driv3r, even though the game really was quite awful).
The game would have a deep storyline with characters with motivations for doing what they're doing. The gunplay would actually be GOOD (As opposed to every driver game ever made). The missions would be varied, there would be side missions to take up... Basically, the entire Driver formula done right.
