I've always seen potential in the Driver series, squandered by a whole lot of bad design choices.

What I really want to see is a Grand Theft Auto-style free roam game. The game is set in the 70s, and it has the soundtrack, car physics and handling, and sound design of Driver: Parallel Lines (Seriously, the cars in that game sounded fantastic), as well as the realistic vehicle damage of that game. The game spans three locations, based on real-life locations as the driver series always has been (Perhaps a return to Nice, I loved that location in Driv3r, even though the game really was quite awful).

The game would have a deep storyline with characters with motivations for doing what they're doing. The gunplay would actually be GOOD (As opposed to every driver game ever made). The missions would be varied, there would be side missions to take up... Basically, the entire Driver formula done right.

Completely open world semi-futuristic RPG where you can do literally anything. And by anything, I mean everything. Save the world. Be a cop. Deal drugs. Sit at home and watch TV. Have kids. All of the above. In my perfect game, I will be able to do whatever I want.

Bioware and Bethesda combining to make the ultimate RPG. The story, character development and moment-to-moment music of one, and the open world, interaction of everything and general music of the other.

Doesn't matter what type of game it is as long it is always appealing and somehow doesn't get boring at all that you can join right back into it after month of not playing it.

Well aren't you guys party poopers . Also wrong . Now if you read the question correctly.

The OP asks: what's YOUR idea of a perfect game,

and not : what IS a perfect game.
Words you don't understand: "wrong."

Perfection is a defined thing, meaning without flaw. It isn't subjective.

Regardless, I said what I said because I do enjoy seeing the human stumbles behind the works I enjoy, gaming or otherwise. That you have a problem with what I said makes me wonder what would cause such extraordinary defensiveness.

Perfection is subjective, and differs from person to person, case to case. Flaws are less subjective, but something can indeed be flawless. Doesn't make it perfect to everyone.Basically for something to be perfect everyone must agree it is perfect ( which is impossible ) .

Now i have actually posted a thread on this

Skyrim.
Or this, which I have brought up various times before on these forums.

It's basically Dead Island but the way we all thought it would be before they actually showed us some gameplay.

Some game with a lot of freedom do do things. Like a sort of Second Life with more of a defined point, less lag and easier controls.
That would be my idea of a good game.

To be honest, shadow of the colossus is my perfect game too. It always has been since I first played it. I love games with huge scale and big ass enemies. But I also love a sense of hopelessness and abandonment. I love apocalyptic games too. I would love to see a full open world game in a destroyed city. (I know its been done to death but not properly for me) I want the city to be almost empty and falling apart gradually. Really feel like its destroyed. Sort of an "I am legend" "I am alive" type game. But with big ass enemies the size of skyscrapers like Cloverfield. And you have to go around the city finding food, weapons etc. There are normal bandit type enemies that you are rivalling to get these items. You are mostly alone in this game and the majority of it is played just walking around emptiness looking at stunning scenes like sunlight through smoke down a very long road like the streets of NYC. and there would just be distant sounds and wind blowing, gangs shooting, animals eating and fighting and lumbering footsteps of the giants. So sometimes when you are running along a big enemy will come out and you have to hide from it (because you are tiny with no weapons) and sometimes bandits will attack it or vice versa. I want the enemy encounters to be totally random. I would love to see really good destruction with the giants swinging their arms and clearing chunks of buildings and seeing huge plumes of dust and smoke.

Its hard put it all into words but you get the picture from my description :p

It already exists. It's called Valkyria Chronicles. A deep strategic rpg based in a world war 2-esque setting with fantasy elements with fantastic characters and story.

- Open fully explorable world/galaxy/universe
- Choice/Consequence system where each choice affects the game
- Fully believable and riveting characters that the player gets a strong emotional attachment to
- Strong well told story through narrative
- Crysis-like graphics
- Aion-depth character creation
- Well done space combat
- Minimalist, intuitive HUD
- Amazing voice acting

Essentially take Mass Effect, put well done Space Combat in it and explorable planets and solar systems, remove Paragon/Renegade, add game-altering Choice-Consequence and add more depth to the characters. And put it in the CryEngine.

Does anyone have any plotted out? I have several - varying amounts of stuff written on mechanics but at least 3 or 4 full concepts and stories.

You want the hi-concept pitches? Heh...

first one: Skies of Arcadia, but with dragons!
A JRPG set in a world of flying ships and floating islands. Think Studio Ghibli's 'Laputa' but you get to fly around on a dragon. Also Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Exploration system nicked out of 'Skies', it's pre-Golden Age of Sail so the world map is a blank and you fill it in. And obviously without all the usual JRPG melodrama.

next: Shining Force but in Midgar!
A tactical RPG, grid battlefields, turn system, the works. Steal the unit system from Langrisser (so it's not just a handful of heroes you control, like Shining Force, but each hero has five or six troop units as well. You have to form a front line, flank the enemy, all that cool stuff).
I have the mechanics worked out quite well but it's really the story that I love.
Far-future cyber punk world, warring factions, branching story-line (like Langrisser).
In fact, just Langrisser with a massive update. Go play Langrisser people, it's genius.

I posted a thread like this a little earlier in my life time on the Escapist. My thoughts are still the same. I have 2 game ideas that would be the best thing ever. Specifically, 2 sets of 2 game combinations into uber amazing material.

Starfox Controls and Setting (both Planetary and Interplanetary combat / exploring) + Grand Theft Auto like Gameplay.

-or-

Pokemon Attack Options and Characters + Custom Robo series Controls.

I have, however, added a third option. Revive Megaman, and reboot his MMORPG. I would sell my soul, and several other souls as well, for Megaman Universe.
