Awesome, man! Living the dream, huh? Network issues can be a real pain, and buildsystems can be, especially if your developers refuse to use it right like they do where I work! ^.^

OT: Myself, I'm a simple software developer. C# is my language of choice, and you 'nix bastards can make fun of me all you want, I love my life. ^.^
I hear you! I feel really lucky, since I was able to get into the industry without any contact in the company. I used to be a programmer, doing regular managing software stuff (in Delphi, proudly named Dying Language #1). That was good times too, I don't regret any of it.

And nothing wrong with C#! Around here, two languages are used: C# and C++ (not counting Pyhon, Perl and all that Ruby crap, since it's mostly used for scripting).

I used to be a librarian, but for now I'm mostly "there for" my kids. My eldest needs a bit more care than other children his age. I guess you could call me a home make or a housewife.

I test and qualify video and audio drivers. I get paid $20 an hour to sit around and play video games - watch DVDs basically. Been doing it for 6 years now

I work as a librarian at my college, and I deliver AV materials around. My job is essentially a huge succession of fetch quests, but leveling up takes forever.

Nice! What kind of game are you working on?
Massively Multiplayer Strategy-ish. Really hard to explain without seeing it. As you might imagine from a single-person project, it's pretty simplistic (2D top-down graphics) and relies heavily on procedural content generation.

I work at a grocery store.
I take calls from people and ask what they need and buy it and take it to them. They of course then pay me and there's a small fee so that the cars gasoline will be paid from.
Mostly old people and a few hospitals and schools and such.

But in just 3 months I must go into the army and after that, hopefully the Police Academy.

I used to be a game developer until the company ran out of money. So now I'm back to programming on Symbian, which is something I'd only recommend to.... nobody.

Unemployed right now, but stressing myself out so much with trying to find work it's made me ill.
Well, two job interviews tomorrow and I've been offered a placement at a children's centre so I'm getting somewhere I suppose.

It took me 4 years to complete half of a 2 year IT diploma at college.
Im actually rather good with computers, was just the problem of prioritizing games, forums and sleep > Showing up and doing my work.

Once I finally got my half qualification (Score!), I realised I live in the bum end of nowhere and that it was the most useless thing I could have studied.

I now work as a barman in my local.
Prolly the worst job for a shy, antisocial, shut in like myself :(
