I can see how this could be of some concern to some, but it really doesn't have as grand of an affect on me. As I am sure most of you do, I address my parents as "mom" or "dad." I have never called my parent's by their real name unless I was telling another their name. So, having a girlfriend with the same name wouldn't be much of a bother to me.

Yeah, I've never had this effect me, but my sister's name is a little uncommon so that might be weird. I dated a girl who looked like my cousin who had the same name, and that was weird, but it was the looks that ended it.

My mom's name is Susan tho, and that's not really too popular any more so hopefully I never have to deal with this.

I have the same name as my girlfriend's dad. I've never heard of that getting in the way of anything. My girlfriend doesn't say anything about it. I mean, if the person you were dating had the same name as you, there might be weirdness, but even then it wouldn't matter that much.
Funny story- my name is Aaron, and one of my ex's name was Erin. At dinner one day, her mom made a joke about how if we got married, we couldn't name any of our kids Aaron.

Her response? "We won't. Aerin, Aryn, Eryn... these are all potentials, though."

Back on topic, it might be a little strange, but not a dealbreaker.

I would, though I once met a girl named Heather Marie Woods (shared the exact name of my sister) who was rather fond of me that I didn't want to go out with...that would've been awkward.

Sorry to buck the trend, but would have to pass on it. I mean I am not saying I would turn away from the most amazing person in the world based on a name, but it would definitely be a turn off.

I don't think it'd be much of a problem. It's not like I'd call my mom by her first name, so there's no danger of getting the two confused if I call one. XD

Um, no. My parent's names/family's names are pretty common, so it's not like I haven't met people with the same name hundreds of times. I don't think of my parents on first name terms anyway.

As far as names bad enough to put me off? Well, if anyone honestly has a name that horrible, then they probably go by a nickname, middle name or surname or something, so it wouldn't be an issue. I'd just call them that instead.

Well I might be a bit awkward. I don't really call my mom by my first name, but it might still make things weird (if a girl had my Dad's name, welll I think there might be other issues that needed to be addressed first). Plus I don't really like "Angie" or "Angeline". I don't find them particularly attractive.

I think I'd HAVE to date a girl is she was named Clarence. How many times would I have the opportunity to do that?
