Sadly enough, end of Halo 3 when I thought Master Chief had died, I was actually really upset. Call me a fanboy.

I got angry-sad at Lucien for killing Root (my dog) in Fable 2. >:C
I didn't care about chief, but i was sad about johnson

In Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, after you visit Faith's room, then check the video put together by the scientists experimenting on her, and then you go back into her room and look at the paintings and stuff lying there. The comments Zoe makes are heartbreaking.

Mass Effect, when Shepard literally rises from the ashes. Tears of joy. Everybody thought that he was dead, I actually expected Ashley to burst into tears any second.
I actually clapped during the credits.

Max Payne 2, the good ending. Again tears of joy. Finally Max got something good in his life.

"We are willing to suffer. To die about the things we care about. For love. For the right choices. Because of her, I had solved the case. My case. All of it, who I am. Is it worth it? Saying that it never is would be a lie. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes, something good comes out of it, something you know you wouldn't deserve in a million years. Something that gives you a reason to go on."

The ending of Mafia always gets me too. Well, at least Tommy was old when they whacked him.

Final Fantasy 6 (or 3 if you're into the US numbers). Kefka poisoning the water supply of one of the heros towns and he had to watch as his family died in his arms. Sure the sprites for the old FF games looked like well armored marshmallows, but it was still an emotional story point.

The whole funeral sequence and the events surrounding it on Disc 1 of Lost Odyssey.
- Sorry I know it's personal oppinion and all but i found that seen unbeliveably nauseating, gah! Even the memory brings back the taste of sick and the horrendous whinning of those kids.

damn right! Id force feed lucian puppy chow untill his stomach had exploded if Steven fry hadnt killed him first...

- that and to jump on the bandwago, the Aeris scene was mindblowing, especially if youd been using her as a main character.

I'll mention Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu, chapter 5. If you honestly thought that the death of a single character in any other game was sad, you'll bawl your eyes out after you play this.

The kids did ruin it quite a bit, but otherwise, it was quite sad when the focus was on Kaim's past. The way they turned a funeral into a bunch of minigames also ruined the pacing of it.

I agree with most every post in this thread, with the top three being (in no particular order):

1. MGS3 ending - it was simultaneously extremely awesome and extremely depressing
2. Lost Odyssey - the whole game really, and every "flashback," but end of disc 1 specificaly
3. FFVII - end of disc 1, obviously. It's the classic choice ;)

Aeris being stabbed through the chest... traumatic really considering the game was 7+
Red's grandfather dying and the best line in the whole game, which added to the depression really, "He'll be back and we'll see him again, right?". Even if Aeris was sad of Cloud most of al, Red was a more likable characted, possibly because he was young, naive and had been changed into a dog like thing.

Aeris FF7, No contest, if you didnt know it was coming and had been playing for hours leveling her up etc,i havent come across any death of a major character that had anything like that impact, most people you dont care about.
Cait Sith death was shocking too but he was a toy and did return like instantly in a new body, he was being controlled by mayor reeves so its the same guy.

On TF2 when you're healing a Heavy only for him to be brutally backstabbed by a Spy leaving you to stand there awe-struck. Get's me every time *weeps*.

Quite a few moments have made me upset in games although I don't remember them. =\

Kingdom Hearts:

When Sora and Kairi are seperated at the end of the first game, after all the shit they went through and all of the love they had for each other...I still get that funny feeling in my throat when you're upset now...and I'm 14!
