I'm a virgo. I don't know if it works like this in English, but the Norwegian word for virgo - jomfru - means virgin. In that respect, I guess it describes me well...

In all seriousness, I don't know what my sign means, I guess I'll look it up.

Edit. Oh, and for the record, I think astrology is bullshit.

The Virgo personality is a complex mix of intelligence, common sense, attention to detail, and commitment. This is a down-to-earth sign with a strong sense of responsibility, especially with regard to family and close friends. Although they are described as orderly and neat in most personality profiles, the modern day Virgo may not always stand out from the crowd in the neatness department. However, even if the Virgo's house or office is not always in perfect order, you can be sure that they still know where to instantly find whatever they need, despite it being hidden in a pile somewhere. The real stand-out feature of the Virgo personality is their commitment to excellence in everything they do. This is a person who once committed to a given task, will complete it to the very best of his ability. If something goes wrong, and the task is incomplete or not perfectly done, it will be on Virgo's mind for some time to come. Virgos can be quite critical of perceived flaws in others, but do not take kindly to criticism themselves. They are very aware of body and health, and will take a dim view of comments related to the physical, such as weight gain or acne, of which they are already painfully aware. If life becomes too complicated or their already fragile ego is damaged, Virgo may become depressed to the point of immobilization at home, but will probably still function perfectly in the workplace. Virgo tends to be fairly careful with money and usually won't be caught without at least a small nest egg tucked away somewhere.
Yup, I'm calling the Barnum effect on this here.

I'm a Cancer.
I've read different descriptions of my sign, and some of them I can relate to.

I could not be described more perfectly by my two zodiac signs...

Western
As I was born on December 12, I am a Sagittarius.

Sagittariuses are optimistic, intellectually-minded, constantly in pursuit of new ideas/discoveries, and seek wisdom and knowledge of all aspects of life. They are fun loving and fall in love and trust too easily...dishonesty, disloyalty, and vice are things the despise.

So far, so good...

We love animals and nature; I always help out with strays when I can, love animals, and enjoy the outdoors (camping, hiking, etc.).

Some other qualities are that Sagittariuses are abnormal, naïve, and straightforward and outspoken. Often, when speaking, they speak in an unintentionally harsh manner, which makes people angry. Wow, that describes me perfectly...I mean, exactly.

Finally, we try to avoid difficult situations because when we try to be friendly or helpful, it often fails. In fact, when a Sagittarius is responsible for a tense situation, they will often apologize; however, they will then make it worse without realizing it.

Chinese
I was born in 1985, therefore I am an Ox (牛). More specifically, I'm a wood ox.

Small talk and exorbitant amounts of time are things I do not enjoy, which are characteristic of oxen. As well, I am methodical in my work, prefer routine, will listen to your ideas but formulate my own opinions, prefer long-lasting, carefully forged relationships with my friends, and find it difficult to maintain a romantic relationship (though all of mine have lasted for lengthy periods of time), all also characteristic of oxen.

Wood Oxen are good at working in teams but function better as leaders, which I would agree is part of my personality (not necessarily that I'm a good leader, just that I like to be). Also, we tend to be outspoken and quick-tempered; the former is quite me, the latter used to be, but I've become much more mellow.

My only disagreement is that oxen are supposed to be hard-working to the point of not being able to relax, but I enjoy my relaxation and take my work in stride. I guess there always has to be a straggler in the bunch!

I'm a Sagittarius, which is fitting because I'm actually a half-horse/half-man who shoots people with bows an arrows when they come into my forest. I also have mommy issues and a problem with the Portuguese.

This is strange. I'm a Taurus and the description actually fits my relatively well. On the other hand, so do the others, if you take a really open view. They are meant to fit just about anybody.

Aries. And my mum is kind of a big hippy, so I've heard the basics.
If I am anything like this crap claims I should be, it's news to me.

And in the chinese zodiac, I'm a monkey. All I've heard about that is they are good at anything because they are great mimickers.
Ha. No.

Aries according to http://www.astrology-online.com/

Positive:
Adventurous and energetic (Not really.)
Pioneering and courageous (Maybe a little.)
Enthusiastic and confident (Yes.)
Dynamic and quick-witted (Quick-witted, yes.)

Negative:
Selfish and quick-tempered (Selfish yes, quick-tempered no.)
Impulsive and impatient (Not in the least.)
Foolhardy and daredevil (No, I'm very careful.)

... astrology is bs.

Virgo. And yes, the traits do apply to me, but I imagine they apply to a great many people. A lot of people can be harsh and overcritical without having to have been born in late August. I also imagine that the same number of people can be shy and practical and everything else. Astrology is pretty nonsensical stuff, and anyone that puts more than a passing thought into it is kinda wasting their time, IMO.

I hope we all realise that star signs use open-ended statements that can apply to anybody, regardless of which 'sign' you are.

i'm a Leo [http://www.quickegreets.com/horoscope/leo.htm] and it suits me in some ways, but not in most, being a bit more of a misanthropist, it seems against the sign.

Aries, but I think the personality profile of Pisces fits me better, which is weird because if I'd been born just 2 days earlier I'd be one of them.

Oh, and yes it's all codswallop (what a fun word).
Almost exactly the same here, only for me it's one day earlier. And I agree on the codswallop.

Granted some of mine were rather open-ended, but some were fairly specific.

Though, I still don't believe in this stuff.

I'm a Capricorn. I don't know how it applies to me, only that it's meant to be an "earth sign".

That's because star sings horoscopes are written so ambiguously that they'll cover the majority of people.

It's not eerie, just a surprisingly successful con.

Physcics, horoscopes and other types of BS use these. There's a term for it, but I can't remember what it is. They spoke about it on QI. In the case of a physcic they could ask you, 'do you know somebody called John?' Now if you say 'yes', they say, 'I thought so.' If you say 'no' they can just say, 'you will soon.'

Oooh! Spooky!

I'm Cancer, and I don't think I could care less.

Astrology is very often correct, but this is because it's vague beyond reason and they've set down double entendres and generic meanings as a work of art.
