In Chinese astrology however, I'm a Fire Rabbit, the descriptions of which are fairly accurate.

I'm a Taurus, dunno how that describes me personality-wise... I've never been one for stuff like this as I don't believe in any of it. Now Tarot cards on the other hand, those things are scarily accurate, especially if you have a close friend who reads your fortune.

Just FYI, and as some interesting ammunition for the debates flaring up around here, I watched a study done on the streets of London (well, watched via a Richard Dawkins documentary) where they got random passers-by to listen to their horoscope and say whether or not it suited them. Eleven out of every twelve participants, however, were given the wrong horoscope - e.g a person who was a virgo actually got a taurus horoscope, but with the word taurus replaced by virgo. Despite this, almost everyone who got the wrong horoscope still said that it suited them perfectly.

I believe that this is an accurate enough study to agree that the whole thing is faffy enough that it's not tied down to anything so someone can say "Mmmmyeah sounds about right" because no drastic claims are made. You never get a Horoscope that says "You clip your left toenail at 11:23 every Wednesday and secretly fancy you flat-chested secretary for reasons that are unknown to you." Moreover, people generally want to believe it, and thus they will, just showing you the power of perspective.

I really don't see how anyone takes these things seriously. I'm not enforcing an emphatic war against horoscope readers, I'm just sadly disappointed. I'd always hoped this was one of those things that the human race had reduced to mild coincidences that were occasionally somewhat on the mark and deserving of a brief smile before flipping the page or navigating to another site, whereupon lies global news of artistic, political, scientific or social events. I suppose not.
The fact that allignments of planets dictate our day-to-day lives is about as ludicrous as thinking that all 6.7 billion humans can be sorted into 12 vague categories.

This whole topic was just supposed to be a laugh and some fun to begin with. A list was just passed arround the dorm today and I just thought it was interesting. I seriously doubt anyone here seriously follows this in a religious sense. If you'll read the origional topic, I only asked if you saw some similarities in whatever you found about your own sign.

I'm either a Scorpio or a Sagittarius. I'm not sure. I remember reading the last day of the Scorpio is Nov. 22, which was the day I was born. But I also remember reading that the first day of the Sagittarius was Nov. 22.

I think it may be because the days change every year, I don't know. I'm most likely a Scorpio though. And if I am, it kind of describes me kind of well. As I'm kind of reserved and secretive except towards people I trust or feel comfortable around.

I'm a Gemini... and the description I found seems to fit. I like to play games, I have a love of knowledge, and my attention does tend to wander rather quickly sometimes.

I do have a sort of "Split" in my personality as well; I can go into a rather severe mood swing over some really trivial stuff. It's silly really.

Don't worry, I didn't miss the point of the topic. I'm not suggesting everyone here does follow it enthusiastically but a few seemed to be taking it as somewhat factual. I know it's only for a bit of fun, but I noticed a bit of discussion on the topic, as I said in my post, and said what I said purely for the sake of adding to it all. I know it's only for discussion value. Coincidentally, Taurus actually suits me quite well, as I knew. I didn't intend to be belligerent in my writing, apologies if I came off like that. I intended more to just state my opinions on the topic rather than oppose anyone else's.

I'm also an Aries and it does apply to some aspects of my personality but then almost all of the star signs do. Every one of them is designed to be vague enough to apply to almost anyone.
And yes it does annoy me that that is a typical Arian attitude towards star signs but I'm gonna go and call that a coincidence.

So I just found out about astrological birth signs and how they can be eriely correct when it comes to explaining someones personality. I'm an Aries and it pretty much has me pegged.

So my question to everybody is this. What is your sign and does it apply to your personality(good or bad)?

*EDIT* If you dont know your sign or don't know what it means, it only takes two minutes for you to do a quick google search. This could be a learning opportunity, don't be lazy.

**EDIT** It doesn't matter if you believe in this stuff or not. I sure as hell don't. I just thought that it was interesting and that people would like to see what something says about them.

I'm a sagittarius, but apparently I'm not a typical one. It does have one or two traits right but most of it is completely wrong.

because horoscopes are designed to fit ambiguously into every aspect of how we'd like to perceive ourselves

Why didn't I find this thread earlier?!

I'm an Aquarius through and through! But what you didn't know about is that your 'sign' is the sign where the sun was in when you were born. (In Thebiggestpanda's case: about between March the 20th and April the 22nd.) But the other planets have influencial energies as well!

It doesn't really matter for an Aries to know what his/her ascending sign is because it's just a social mask. Aries are 'what you see is what you get' and quickly break through any first impressions. For a Cancer, however, the ascending sign is what they protect themselves with.

I have Libra ascending. Meaning that at first glance people see me as the peace-loving, democratic Libra. But I'm actually the excentric, chaotic and unpredictable Aquarius.

These two can be combined to create a personality that wants to be friends with almost everybody and strives for world peace.
