At what point did it become acceptable to be from New Jersey? Wasn't it always one of 'those' states? Isn't New Jersey for the North like Kentucky is for the South?

-note: I'm not mocking everyone from New Jersey, but I'm making fun of the show and the culture following it.

It never did, it's still especially hated by a majority of us New Yorkers.

It's not. If you think it is, you may be a douchebag. Not trying to offend anyone. It's science.

It became cool when people from New Jersey started to get recognition as a state instead of "South New York." In all seriousness though, probably when the show sprouted up. Why do people refuse to believe that reality TV is planned from the very beginning?

That's only one little section of the state but it's annoying enough that it made Voltaire write this song...

So far as I know, even the people who live in New Jersey hate New Jersey.

Is my analogy correct? Is New Jersey the Kentucky of the North?
Well I don't know how much Kentucky is hated, but people here in New York and the rest of the East Coastreally hate New Jersey, I doubt Kentucky can compete.

I think it's because New Jersey is starting to get some celebrities and what not. However, most of the stuff you will see about New Jersey is simply making fun of New Jersey (See tonights episode of South Park for more information).

If the OP wants to talk about fake t.v. then fine.

If the OP has a hate filled bundle of shame against Kentucky or New Jersey, fine.

But when you compare New Jersey to Kentucky, you are way the fuck out of line in my book.

LOL! Just kidding.

I have never heard of, nor do I understand, what you mean by a comparison on this one.

Cool people exist in every city.

It's a fact.

"When did New Jersey become cool?"

Trick question, it didn't.

The only other states that I can think of that is disliked by many people in this country are California and Texas.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot Arizona.

Never been there and I don't know much about it so I don't care either way but the only cool thing I've heard from NJ is the urban legend of the Jersey Devil since I like reading about local (and non local) legends, myths, tales, lore, etc.
