I live in Jersey, nothing here really. Rather live in Delaware, cause at least they don't have sales tax.

I've lived here my whole short life and pretty much everyone I know that lives here hates it (including me). It just isn't fun. There's trees everywhere, people drive like they can spare getting a car totaled and our educational funding just took a noise dive.

It's not nor ever will be cool.

At what point did it become acceptable to be from New Jersey? Wasn't it always one of 'those' states? Isn't New Jersey for the North like Kentucky is for the South?

-note: I'm not mocking everyone from New Jersey, but I'm making fun of the show and the culture following it.
Most of the people on that show are from Staten Island

New Jersey is often the subject to were romances occur in songs. That often in heart break. I only like Jersey for two reasons and they're mine :)
I love Voltaire :D. OP: It's not cool and I blame The Jersey Shore for making people think it's cool.

Well I remember seeing Jersey as cool ( pop culture wise ) after Megas XLR. Granted I think that was Jersey pride ... even though it was destroyed every episode, before that Jersey was on the end of big jokes. Many shows despised it, and still do today. ( How I Met Your Mother ) Then there's Born To Run, a classic American rock tune solely about getting the hell out of Jersey.

So I guess around the advent of Jersey Shore this whole things started.

I'm from New Jersey and I'm not quite sure why my state is the butt of so many jokes. There's nothing wrong with this state or the people in it. I guess there needs to be a scape goat and New Jersey got picked. And those people from the Jersey Shore are from Staten Island anyway.

The stereotypes of New Jersey being one big slum run by the mob is really quite inaccurate. The reason people think that its an industrial cesspool is because our airport happens to be in Newark, a less than stellar area. And the Sopranos made everyone think people in New Jersey talk in Italian accents and eat spaghetti every day. We're just normal people who live in a variety of settings (urban, suburban, agricultural) just like any other state. I know no one will change their mind about New Jersey, but hey, what can you do?

Please, New Jersey has never been and never will be cool. Just because there's a few shows that follow some brain dead sad excuses for human beings around doesn't mean that it's cool. It's a horrible smelling state that wishes it was New York.

But New Jersey will never be New York, no matter how many New York teams have stadiums there or how much of our garbage we dump there because Staten Island is full.

I don't know, but the next time I hear someone babbling on about Jersey Shore, I am going to promptly punch them in the face. I can't really say anything about people from Jersey, but according to New Yorkers they're real douche beags bags.

It's a state. Like any other place, there is good people and bad people. Nice areas and bad areas.

Most people here are generalising New Jersey. Just because it's slightly infamous doesn't mean the whole place sucks.

If the OP wants to talk about fake t.v. then fine.

If the OP has a hate filled bundle of shame against Kentucky or New Jersey, fine.

But when you compare New Jersey to Kentucky, you are way the fuck out of line in my book.

LOL! Just kidding.

I have never heard of, nor do I understand, what you mean by a comparison on this one.

Cool people exist in every city.

It's a fact.
In the South, we see Kentucky as the amalgamation of all of the worst qualities of the South. Here, we're of the feeling: Shit, I may be from the South, but I'm not from Kentucky!" My old roommate was from Kentucky. His uncle brewed moonshine in his bathtub. This is not an uncommon practice in that part of the state. I'm merely wondering if there is a fair comparison. Also, I don't have anything against Kentucky or people from there, I merely acknowledge that it's...different there.

There are also a lot of states that you never hear about ever just because they're so painfully boring. When was the last time you even heard about North Dakota? NJ isn't particularly different from the rest of the Midatlantic region other than the whole gas pumping deal. ;)

Everyone in the NYC Metro Area is rude. The area thrives on a culture of suspicion and vigilance. When I visit other places I find the trust other people have in strangers highly discomforting.

P.S. The whole NJ = garbage is actually more dated than the NYC = dangerous stereotype.

Jersey is cool now? News to me.

Eh I know that there's that show with the douchebags and bitches in it, so I guess that accounts for its "popularity", but from what I can tell not alot of people like New Jersey. I've been there before, its nothing special. And they have those "jug handle" road things there. Meh. I don't really care.

Sorta fun New Jersey fact: New Jersey has the highest population density of any American state. (maybe I'm not sure, thought I read it some where.

The only cool state is California. Sure new yorkers may mock people from new jersey but its just one drooling retard slapping another for not being able to poop its pants quite as much.
I challenge you to a pantshitting duel *gloveslap*

yah new yorker here, NJ isn't cool at all, only cool part is six flags, and even that is a bit overrated
