Yup, it's Halo's fault. I think it worked pretty well in that game, it's just too bad that all the developers had to ape it for their own games. I miss the days when I could have an entire arsenal with me at all times.
your hate for halo is a bit arrogant, Bungie did it becuase it went well with the game they were making. If you want someone to blame, blame mainstream appeal.
WTF? Really? Is that guy serious? He specifically said "I think it worked pretty well in that game." How was that even close to hatred?
Yup, its Halo's fault.

you know the first four words in his post. thats what I am talking about.

It might not be hatred, but it sounds like it.

Well, I'm going to use ALL of your words, not just a handful, to call you a ridiculously sensitive fanboy.

im still rather confused as to either A) you can use up both your weapon slots with like 2 handguns or B) a Rocket Launcher and the BFG 9000 taking up the same amount of space.
at least in some cases the limited ammo cap. was a (mostly) pathetic attempt at balance issues.

"And i thought we abandoned realism when we are fighting space marines on the planet Zog"

I don't think it's really to become more realistic, I think it's to become easier to play. When I was playing Ratchet and Clank, I usually died because I was trying to grab the right gun of some-type-or-another at the wrong moment. Throw that in with carrying a gun sores inventory on your shoulders, it's not conforminism, or whatever, it simply common sense!

You're funny. o(~_^)!

I'm just tired of people hating on Halo EVERY chance they can.

So you didn't like it, get fucking over it already. its 2009.

Truth be told, I am fanboy for Kingdom Hearts and Street Fighter.

I just think Halo hate should be left in threads about halo.

EDIT: this wont end well so dont bother with replying, I have lost interest in this futile arguement thats is 'teh interwebz'. :p

The 2 weapon system isn't realistic at all, you can fit 2 small arms in side holsters, 1 on the back, 2 if you place em right, you can also have one hanging above the chest...

What I want to say is, sure, a 2 weapon system is fine, but let me carry 2 pistols/Uzi sized smgs to, cause they fit in holsters.

Counterstrike had the limited weapons thing going on long before the Halo series. As well a being far more of an influence to online gaming and fps games over the past 10 years.

I liked games like James bond nightfire where you could carry everything but i also enjoy call of duty so I don't think it matters

I think halo made it popular, not sure if was first do do it however.
I remember delta force, mission equipments did not allow you to carry more than 2 guns. Yes, I find it more adequate to have a limited amount of weapons at any given time.
Spot on. Delta Force did it first, Halo popularised it.

Personally it depends on what the game is trying to do, if its an Army Sim then it makes sense to get a primary weapon, a sidearm and a knife, maybe a LAW rocket on your back. In Halo it made sense, but try it in Half-Life 2 and you'll find yourself dead pretty quick when the variety of situations and enemies requires a variety of different weapons. The main difference is that in Halo most enemies can be killed with skillful use of most weapons, in HL2 you will run into lots of enemies that cant be killed quickly enough with the SMG.

It's good because you have to think about the situation instead of rushing in and switching between 5 different weapons.

Again, depends on the game. Much as I enjoyed Halo the limited weapons didn't make me need to think very much, it just meant I only bothered to pick up two or three of the weapons available in the whole game.

Around the same time grey and slightly darker grey became the colour pallet for games. I don't mind it too much really though

I really really hate that quote. It's exactly like saying "I thought we stopped drinking water after we discovered fruit juice."

Something I've just realized is that games with limited weapon capacity tend to have many more weapons than those that don't.

I'm disappointed in the MC, I've always been. Seriously, if Kratos can lug around bigass chuncks of magical metal, why can't he carry an extra pistol or somethin' like that?
Badass? Meh.
I've always wondered how he can flip a 66 ton tank on his own but can't hold an smg still while firing. Something's not right.

I actually like the limiting mechanic. It makes things smoother. I'd rather just have to navigate two or three weapons than have to scroll through 20 of them to find the right one.
