I got glasses when I was 15-16, used them only for reading/gaming/watching TV. Started to use them more permanently when I was 17 though. I was thinking of going with contacts back for a while, but someone in my class who wore contacts got one of them stuck on the backside of her eyeball, so I decided "f*ck that, I'm not gonna have that happen to me".
My friends thought I looked wierd in the beginning with the glasses, but then I started getting compliments that they make me look more intelligent and refined so I kept using them. Now, if I take off my glasses my friends think I look like a mass murdering psychopath or something to that effect. Seriously, if me and one of my close friends start fighting about something or who is right I can just take off my glasses and stare at her and she immidiately concedes... If that's a bad or good thing I'll let you decide.
Well, the good news is that once I reach 60-80 years of age and the eyesight would normally falter for a human with normal eyesight, I'll actually get better eyesight. (Old age makes you longsighted, and I'm nearsighted).
My eyes aren't that bad though, just a minus 1.5 and a minus 1.75. I'm required by law to wear glasses while driving though. Not really a problem, since as I said earlier in this post, I do wear glasses normally.
