and with i would disagree since i check out at least 10-15 games i havent played a month from older to newest and id like to say hardcore is a relative term these daysreg42 said:This "plague" as you call it won't stop, because there will always be a market for casual games.
Oh, and the same amount of "hardcore" games still come out. The two hardly effect eachother.
No, I don't remember those days, because they never existed. Every console ever made has always had a disproportionate number of dull, unbalanced, or just plain bad games for every good game made.Dracovec said:remember when there was more than 2 games a month that came out that were longer than 2-3 hours, had real stories, and had original, well balanced,un-generic game play...i miss those days
I really don't know what you just said. I'm not even a grammar nazi, but dude, c'mon.Dracovec said:and with i would disagree since i check out at least 10-15 games i havent played a month from older to newest and id like to say hardcore is a relative term these daysreg42 said:This "plague" as you call it won't stop, because there will always be a market for casual games.

Of course. It's always been a relative term. Notice, I put hardcore in inverted commas, because I wouldn't describe non-casual games like that.hardcore is a relative term these days
gaming has already been accepted and dont get me wrong it is a double edged sword it can be good but not as long as companies are fighting to put out hundreds of titles with minimal work,no creativity, and straight rips from other games...maybe its the old school talking but when i drop 70 bucks on a game i expect to get my monies worth and frankly not happening(and i have went through some of the biggest game copying years of gaming lolcptawesome said:casual gaming is not a "plague" that is somehow going to turn hardcore games into shambling, zombie-like mutants.
For every Cooking Mama there is a Final Fantasy; for every Bookworm, there is a Halo.
And the kicker is, a good chunk of these "casual" games can actually be pretty damn fun (some, not all). I have had Bejeweled Twist stuck in my DS for weeks, but i can literally not stop playing it.
This perception of a casual "plague" is akin to have snobbish and rude; how can we expect the world around us to accept gaming as a legitimate entertainment medium if there is nothing to build on?
Oh ffs man. I wasn't attacking you. I really could not understand what you wrote because it was worded so badly. Not everyone is out to get you.Dracovec said:i love when people dont really have an argument they attack at a personal level, otherwise known as being an assreg42 said:I really don't know what you just said. They've stopped that. Now it's the generic, grizzled soldiers who die in a few shots and regenerate health. AT LEAST SHIELDS WERE AN EXCUSE FOR HEALTH REGEN! Where did this magical FLESH healing bullshit come from?Blimey said:Too many generic armored space-marines for me.
dont own a wii thanks lol and i have hit almost every big, small, and random games i can get ahold ofmarter said:Search for better games. I've yet to buy a game that hasn't lasted me at least 5 hours on the first playthrough.
Also, stop looking at Wii Shovelware games.

Well, that's another thing, is that more often than not, the more "casual" games are usually (not always, but usually) priced lower than your blockbuster hardcore titles, especially when they're released as iPhone apps.Dracovec said:gaming has already been accepted and dont get me wrong it is a double edged sword it can be good but not as long as companies are fighting to put out hundreds of titles with minimal work,no creativity, and straight rips from other games...maybe its the old school talking but when i drop 70 bucks on a game i expect to get my monies worth and frankly not happening(and i have went through some of the biggest game copying years of gaming lolcptawesome said:casual gaming is not a "plague" that is somehow going to turn hardcore games into shambling, zombie-like mutants.

Well, the last current generation games I've bought (Batman: Arkham Asylum & Demon's Souls), have both been excellent, so I don't really understand what you are talking about.Dracovec said:dont own a wii thanks lol and i have hit almost every big, small, and random games i can get ahold ofmarter said:Search for better games. and dont get me wrong i think this could be a good thing but if it keeps going the way it is the games i have always loved are gonna be hashed out to the corporate slop that is everywhere, just asking for a few good, thought out games, with good gameplay, story and originality they just seem to be getting thinner as time goes oncptawesome said:Well, that's another thing, is that more often than not, the more "casual" games are usually (not always, but usually) priced lower than your blockbuster hardcore titles, especially when they're released as iPhone apps.Dracovec said:gaming has already been accepted and dont get me wrong it is a double edged sword it can be good but not as long as companies are fighting to put out hundreds of titles with minimal work,no creativity, and straight rips from other games...maybe its the old school talking but when i drop 70 bucks on a game i expect to get my monies worth and frankly not happening(and i have went through some of the biggest game copying years of gaming lolcptawesome said:casual gaming is not a "plague" that is somehow going to turn hardcore games into shambling, zombie-like mutants.

i mentioned Bejeweled Twist; that only cost me $15, and it's one of the most entertaining games i've played in a while. It mixes strategy and intensity while still being accessible to a wider audience. it even includes a "zen" mode, which is basically "no fail."
