When you're completely alone (that's a secret by the way), though I assume you mean in public, in which case the death of a loved one. That's about it, unless you're counting when they're drunk, but even then only when they're extremely angered/saddened by something horrible. Those are my ways of seeing it anyways, don't really care if other guys cry, but these are the general rules I was taught.

If that's a Xmas avatar, I'm crying right now.
It's around that time of year :p
...
It's not even the end of Autumn yet!

OT: It differs from person to person I assume, I don't cry that much personally, but I know some guys who cry when someone so much as flicks them :/

a man can cry whenever the fuck his feelings are hurt, forget Fake manly masks, if you gotsta cry and let out emotions then do so.
Nope. People need someone to look to in a time of hardship, and that is the man.

It is okay to cry during a sporting event or the death of a dog. Family members not so much, because everyone else needs you to stay strong for them. Cry in private then.

Whenever they're hurt, emotionally or physically.
I don't mind men crying. If I'm near a man crying I'll jump out my seat and run towards them to comfort them.

You ask the wrong question. The right question is "When is it wrong for a man to cry?".

I say a man can cry whenever he wants.

I'm fine with guys crying. They can cry whenever they feel like it, but I just wouldn't like them doing it all the time.

Then again, I don't like when anyone cries because they usually come to me for comfort, and I hate that.
Can't you just give a random number of "Hi Fivez"?

This list only consists of 2 things so far but I am willing to add to it.

At the end of Old Yeller.

While listening to "Riding with private Malone" by David Ball (which btw, if you have not listened to, do it, soon, away from people who can see/hear you)

So... Give me yours...

At no point is this supposed to degenerate into a "Men can cry, it's ok now you insensitive bastard" thread. Men aren't supposed to cry - it's how I was raised. I once asked my dad if it was ok to cry sometimes and he punched me in the crotch.
No one is "supposed" to cry. That doesn't mean they can't. Your father needs a lesson in sensitivity.

Anyway, on topic, if you don't cry during Sarah Brightman's Nessun Dorma, you have no heart.

And any "testy" subject. Like if you really got into that Casino Royale torture scene... for which I pity you and your empathy.

Or when a pet dies, specifically, a dog.

A real man is not afraid of crying. Sadly, I almost never cry, even though there are situations that I really want to. I tear up quite often at films and stuff, but tears rarely come, not even in intense emotional situations. I want to be able to cry dammit!

Whenever they feel like. "I have a penis, therefore I am incapable of producing tears!" No. For real, anyone can cry whenever they are emotionally hurt or if something is very sad to them. It shouldnt matter what gender.
