Where and When should the next Fallout be set?

I know I may be getting ahead of my self here, as New Vegas still isn?t out in many areas (including here). But I was playing Fallout 2 again today and thought to myself ?I wonder what?s happening in the rest of the world?.

I don?t know if it would be a good idea to focus on another country, as perhaps the sense of isolation adds to the atmosphere. But then again GTA London was pretty good.

I also thought it would be a good idea to ask when you would like it to be set. Mostly because I think it would be nice to see Harold again, before he became a tree.

I wouldn't mind it being set somewhere slightly ambiguous, where we don't know for sure where exactly it is. Obviously the country would be, but the location in that country could be a mystery.

Any large american city would make some sense. Detroit, Chicago, New York. Although people would probably complain that its not taking place out west like the first two games, like they did with Fallout 3.

Being from Michigan I would like to see Detroit be the next city, but I doubt it will be.

Seriously, I would like to see a game set in Europe. Imagine what the remnants of the European powers must be doing right now.

I think we should do a little blending here, Fallout Venice. They can take the beautiful work AC2 did in recreating Venice and show that city messed up.

I'm ready to see some of the fallout of the war in other countries. It would be interesting.

I had been thinking a similar thing. The Chinese of the Fallout Universe would probably have built their own version of Vaults in case the bombs fell. Also I think it would be cool if there was lots of propaganda throughout, about evil Americans.

If you're going for Australia, just make a damned Mad Max game. I've been waiting for that for ages. Rage seems to be coming close to it though.

This is my suggestion as well, mainly thanks to Enslaved actually. That game showed that a post-apocalyptic game doesn't have to be grey desolate wasteland, something Fallout 3 really suffered from.

Yeah, there's much you can do with the whole of New York really, not just Manhattan. Places like the Bronx and Queens that really fell into decay and are all scary, the lush and now overgrown Central Park, filled with mutated creatures, the former glory of Broadway, it'd be awesome.

Florida. Because in the Hearts of Iron II Fallout mod Florida is a tropical jungle overrun with giant spiders who live in hives and are under the rule of a sentient spider-queen. Yeah. Although I don't think that its canon... but still.

Anyway I guess somewhere in Europe would be pretty cool. London or perhaps another major European city would be interesting, just to see how Europe fared through the apocalypse.

Everyone seems to be forgetting the commonwealth, which is still strong and present in Canada as stated in Fallout 3. Thus if the common wealth is around so is the UK. Thus Fallout London with waterworld DLC

BTW don't mean to spoil the party but this thread has already been done...
