Where and When should the next Fallout be set?

I want to see Fallout 4 in the south. Texas, perhaps. I would be interesting since there would be all sorts of oil barons and energy moguls there with their own plans and machinations.

Also, Johnson Space Center with all the relics from man's previous ventures into space.

The Houston Ship Channel with all the boats and ferries, the scaffolding on the sides and the cargo loading stations all over the place, oil refineries just itching for a good battle or two.

Who wouldn't want to have a guerilla war among the high rise towers of downtown Austin or Dallas? Imagine what the mutants would do to get from one tower to the other with out touching the ground?

What about Galveston Island? Would there be trade from other parts of the Gulf Coast? Would Mexico be accessible via DLC?

Would there still be drug runners along the borders? What would the citizens have done to keep the violence out of their cities. Would there be walls around El Paso, or would the citizens of San Antonio have built a moat around their city.

Imagine all the strange globular religions that would have popped up from all the mega churches. How would they have changed after 200+ years in the wastes?

Or perhaps set the story even further into the future and have Texas be it's own independent nation once again. Maybe with all the oil and natural gas wells they would make the come back first? Would there be war with other people wanting all that wealth for themselves?

Perhaps China had recovered as well and were looking to take Texas for themselves?

So many possibilities.

It has to be in the USA. I'm not American but it would really mess up the game for me if it was set somewhere else. Maybe back in the waste with the ability to import data from Fallout 3(like mass effect 2).

Texas-sized snip
Clearly you have had more time to think out my idea than I have. Kudos for lots of good ideas there.

I know I may be getting ahead of my self here, as New Vegas still isn?t out in many areas (including here). But I was playing Fallout 2 again today and thought to myself ?I wonder what?s happening in the rest of the world?.

I don?t know if it would be a good idea to focus on another country, as perhaps the sense of isolation adds to the atmosphere. But then again GTA London was pretty good.

I also thought it would be a good idea to ask when you would like it to be set. Mostly because I think it would be nice to see Harold again, before he became a tree.
fallout is about and will STILL be about America. the rest of the world is BORING because FEV didn't reach those areas. no mutants, just raiders and that will BORE anyone. a raider-only fallout game would ended up being called "fallout: super retarded easy edition"
Why not have other types of virus created by the rest of the world govenments?
I personally would love to see a post apocalyptic London maybe whole new types of mutants with monocoles and top hats, the london under ground populated by super hobos with shotguns and the tower of london being a dropping off point for aliens.
only america had FEV. America was the most technologically advanced nation in the world in fallout's world. only america had FEV, power armor, etc. other nations just couldn't compete.
Sorry is this completely confirmed outside off America?
It could be just American propaganda that they are the greatest nation on earth plenty of countries have used this in the past and anyway why couldn't other nations have there own technology or takes on American technology?
It would make the fallout franchise far more interesting to me as a none American to see how the rest of the worlds shaping up as opposed to just another stretch of American desert and destruction that means nothing to me.

China makes sense. It would undoubtedly be fun to see things from the other side for once!

The moon, one of the nukes guidence systems failed. The resulting blast on the moons surface sent it crashing into the earth and embedding itself into the atlantic. While nations fight over the new land, new cities have been built on it and a group of psychos has mined into it. creating a "molemen" thing. Not only will you explore lunar tunnels and find refugee camps, but there is something sinister going on in one of the craters. An old NASA base plays a part....actually this shit is gold...NO ONE STEAL MY IDEA!

I personally think it should be set in a time where civilized society is starting to reemerge from the ashes, but still in its fledgling stages. What I mean by this is the emergence of a particularly large city with the precursors to law and order starting to appear, perhaps led by a ruling clan. This would open it up to several inter-clan wars and organized military forces driving off remaining supermutants. I just think it would be interesting to see society begin to rebuild itself within the Fallout Universe.
Edit: as for where, Pennsylvania. Why? Because I live here and I want to see what post apocalyptic Philadelphia would look like.

WTB Fallout London? Or even UK you could probably get away with given the power of current gaming machines.
