I said it in the last threads and I'll say it now: Give me the hundred days offensive and you've got my money.
The difference being that the other countries don't care. It's the norm to play as Americans now, if you take that out of the game, how many Americans will simply ignore it just because it doesn't feature Americans?Jepix said:Now that's just stupid. Do you think playing as an american has put down any other country playing any WW2 games?Danny Ocean said:Wasn't the rolling barrage in use since the invention of artillery? The Madman said:'advancing artillery' tactic where the infantry advanced behind the cover of a steadily advancing rain of explosive artillery.
It just seems like such an obvious tactic I can't imagine no-one doing until that battle.
Also, I think the lack of significant American actions in WWI would deter the American customers.
So basicly WW2 is better for games because it has a more obvious antagonist? Sounds logical to me. Who knows who the big bad guy from WW1 was?Future Hero said:Rather than reading your long, unspaced wall of text, i'll just say this:
WW2: Hitler
WW1: No Hitler
Exactly! Anything can be entertaining if it's done right. WWI would lend itself well to a strategic shooter, like Rainbow Six without the gadgets. Plus, there's an obvious survival mode, defending your trench from waves of advancing infantry with mounted machine guns, cross-fires, traps...Rensenhito said:In my opinion, the subject matter doesn't matter so much as the implementation. People keep making TONS of WWII games, sure, but we keep buying them because they all introduce something new. You could make a game about cave mold and it would sell as long as you did something interesting with it.
Personally, I think it would be a great idea. Make a game set in WWI, since no one ever seems to acknowledge that in the gaming world. However, whoever makes it should be able to take some artistic liberties with the war to make it a bit more interesting. It should feel more like a survival-horror game than a run-and-gun deal. Make every moment truly frantic and insane, and make shooting come second to bullet-dodging. This could be a fun game, if you guys would give it a chance.
