To be honest the Escapist forum is pretty boring...Been here 3 years but not even at 1000 posts mainly because there's nothing interesting to talk about and I've seen every thread imaginable at least 3 times.

Well, people just leave, and with the health-bar system it is much easier to get banned than it used to be (Just because the blocks stay for a pretty long time).
Nah, 6 months is alright.
I'm not complaining about it, I'm just stating a fact.

Most of the shows I watched have been axed. I come back for some random nonsensical news and ZP.

I'd say if you have over 10,000 posts that makes you an old Escapist lol.

I have only 5000 or so, and I've been here for a couple years.
I've been with The Escapist since 2005...but I only have 900 posts. I'm just not that active in the forums...Heck I didn't even sign up for the forums until 2008.
Ok, so you've been here since 2008. When we talk about "the old users", we mean people who have been signed up in the forums a long time ago, not just browsing the escapist.

But you are correct, post count isn't necessarily accurate. On the other hand, I know I post relatively often, and if this guy has twice my post count, he's probably been here longer than I have.

I'm still here (2008). I've said most of what I feel I need to say and I try not to go around repeating myself. This has led to fewer posts by me I suppose.

Also, going by your numbers 20% of posts are from people before 2007 when Escapist wasn't as well known. Taking into account everything else people have said that's not a bad retention rate.

*shrug* You may not, but I consider myself an Old User. I mean, I came to Escapist before ZP did...and looked on with dismay at how much it changed when he came. That whole crowd who came for him was part of a complete change in what the Escapist did, its vibe, its feel...heck, even its mission. I still have all of my pdf issues of the old Escapist.

So there are still people around who were part of the pre-ZP days let alone part of the pre-loss of a bunch of more modern stuff days.

I originally came for ZP found unforgotten realms and got hooked then joined up to ask advice when my PC started giving me BSOD a lot.

Although ZP brought me here the articles made me stay ans escapist replaced dig as my homepage.

We got eaten. Sorry.
After being here for three years, that Tiger in Mariena's profile has eaten most of us 3rd years. I, however, am still alive.

For now.
Rawr! Beware, young Escapists! And old ones alike.

I was gone for a while because of life, but you've brought up a good point: what did happen to Extra Credits?

I came here for ZP, signed up out of boredom, and got sucked into the forums.
While I have not posted anywhere near my first year's rate, I'm still around. Just not lately.
A mix of games and not having anything really worth saying in threads has kept me from posting for a while.

But a lot of older users either left of their own volition or got banned.
I haven't seen Ultrajoe, Labby, or a bunch of old guard in a long time.
But I'm sure they're both around.
Somewhere.
I refuse to let my guard down.

Furburt, Hubilub and Demented Teddy all got banned, didn't they? And whatever happened to Snooty Englishman?
Wasn't demented teddy a complete prick? I remember someone here being all try-hard broody and "waaah everyone around me is stupid except me".

Might be confusing him with someone else.

Nah, the oldguard has all but upped and left by now. There's like, two of us on IRC, me and Nuke. The rest pop in from time to time, but other than that they've moved on. Speaking of which, you should get on IRC more.

As for the OP, howdy. I for one spend all my time on IRC rather than the forums, personally. As for where everyone else went, it's already been covered. They moved on, packed up and shipped out, hit the ol' dusty trails. S'what happens. Time passes, people move along. Such is life \o/.
Excuse you?! :<

This, partly. Could also be cos people move on, and all? Y'know, gaming doesn't always turn out to be a life-long occupation...

I came here for the RPs, and stayed for them. I find it a priceless exercise of my imagination muscles, and I am only sorry I didn't join earlier.

They moved on / got banned / got promoted.

8D Yeeeeah!

I don't think of myself as an old poster, there were tons of people I knew when I first got here, they've all gone as well. :/

There's nothing wrong with new people though, I like making new friends. :D

i've been here a while, not forever, but more than a year, a lots of lurking prior to that, and I can't say what happened, the forums just ... changed. not sure how it happened, but it did, now there are more new people, more younger people, and more bronies. not sure how it happened, but "when you get old in life, things get taken from you, that's part of life, but you only learn that when you start losing stuff. "

ALSO: I blame the captcha, sometimes i don't post just because i'm to lazy to type in the captcha, but that's just me, i cant speak for everyone. though i suppose it does mean that when i do post, it is because i have something that i really mean to say, like today

I killed them all >:D.
Well they probably just got bored.
Although the conversations are good there are no idiosyncrasy's that make this forum unique.
They also give new titles because of post count and now how long you've been on or anything like how many times you've been bold.
Also does anyone know where the girl who did the music, something-muses went she was awesome,
most of the stuff/shows on the escapist i don't really care for.

The title thing has been around for a long time.
The Pub Club titles haven't, but the changing has.
