It depends.
In the multicolored version, different blocks are sorted according to their shape and colour before being placed in the appropriate recycle bin. These are then picked up on different days of the week and taken off to a single colour version where they are used to build towerblocks for the Breakout blocks to live in. (Due to a massive oversight by Alexey Pajitnov the purple t-shapes can't be used due to DRM issues)
In the single colour version, they can all be placed in the same recycling bin (provided that the purple t-shapes are kept separate due to contamination issues)
If the colours vary or non-standard tessellations are used, all of the blocks must be destroyed immediately before stagnation can occur.
Last year fifteen players suffered third degree itches due to non-standard tesselations, so it's still quite a serious subject.
