As the topic says "Where do you buy your games and why?"

I buy my games from a store named Game. They match price with cheaper game stores and they have really cool unique pre order deals. Plus a rewards card. Every $500 you spend you get quite a big discount on your next game.

Wal-mart actually. Their selection of new games is somehow cheaper than the local Gamestop. Of course with all the money saved from not paying their employees, I'm sure it's no problem to undercut competitors. Also a bonus if I can get my friend to buy it for me, as that adds another %10 off.

Best-buy if the title has a little age on it, Gamestop if the game is out of production.

I generally use 3 places, though I don't lock myself into them if something spectacular comes up, like a sale or I am in a new town/city.

1. Gamestop as it is the only used game store within an hour's driving distance of my house.

2. Amazon for those older games that are difficult to find.

3. Steam for nearly all my PC games (I have a handful I still buy the boxed editions of but I tend to preorder those)

Gamestop, Wal-Mart, Amazon, or Steam.
Whatever is easiest is whichever I use.

I don't know if people outside of Arizona have it, but there's this place called Bookmans, usually sells old games. Sometimes some weird sales people will come and sell new releases. It's pretty reliable.

I shop at Gamestop, they'll usually every now and then have a good promotion that makes it worth buying and trading it in. Wall-Mart is slower to drop it's prices, and Best buy is a rip off.

I really don't like shopping online, because I dislike paying for something and then waiting to see if it was worth the money.

Wal-mart for midnight releases. It's close to home, cheap, and the crowds are never big.

Steam/Amazon for online purchases of older games.

I find their customer service to be very good and they have retro consoles and games that you don't find in bigger stores.

Like they had eight SEGA megadrives stocked last week.
I almost cried

EB Games. Their staff are generally the most knowledgeable and helpful of any store I know of, they have the best deals, and they lower their prices sooner after games are released than Future Shop or Best Buy, which are the only other options I know of where I live.

I live in Sweden, but buy my games from an online store in England called The Hut. Their prices for games are over 50% cheaper than here. Bought all my PS3 games from there.

craigslist - best prices on used games and skip the middleman that is EB
EB Games - sometimes I can't find the game on craigslist
Best Buy - best price match policy of any of the local stores
The Source - sometimes has some wicked clearance sales

Good old Games - 100% DRM free downloads at good prices
Stardock Impulse - some DRM free downloads, if the publisher allows it
Gamers Gate - some DRM free downloads, if the publisher allows it
Steam - Valve games only, I don't trust them for anything they don't develop

I buy from a site called Mightyape mostly. I get and ungutted copy, and they have a lot of variety. They also sell Movies/Music/Books and computer stuff.

If its more obscure, Playasia. They hav really good prices if I dont mind the shipping

I'm in Australia, and for whatever reason I can buy PS3 games (all region free) from overseas A LOT CHEAPER than I can here. So, most of my games arrive via air-mail from Hong Kong or the UK.

I mean, I'd like to support local businesses, but I just can't justify paying $90 for something I can get for $50 or $60 with only a week or so wait, delivered to my door no less.

Plus, Australia has no R 18+ rating for games (a matter of considerable debate) so I can get full content games from overseas, too. Sorry Aussie game stores, you lose.

Steam.

Maybe the odd item from another site, like the Mass Effect 2 DLC or Minecraft.

Back in the 1990s, it was via mail order from some company whose name I can't remember how to spell. Manaccomm, or something like that.

GAME.
My reward card is full of "money" I think I could buy about 4/5 full price games out of it.
I also like buying my game by hand and having a chat with whoever serves me, I've had a few PSN friends like that haha.
