Where do you want Lionhead to take Fable next?

With Fable III already in production, Lionhead is (hopefully) bound to continue to add to the series, with new time periods and creative elements of a Hero's life (now you can become King).

I've been thinking though... the first game took place in some quasi-medieval setting, and Fable II took it to the late 1700s and early 1800s. I don't know what time period Fable III will imitate, but I hope it will be even further along (or at least different).

I've given it some thought, and I think that a future Fable should take place in the 50s and 60s. Think about it. Witchwood could have a communist revolution, Bowerstone could fall into the clutches of some McCarthy-esque madman, and there could be even a cold war between Albion and the currently unexplored "western lands." There would be political satire abounding, hippies, drugs, even adaptations of the trenchcoat and fedora! Weapons would be mostly ranged, falling into Assault Rifles (including an AK-47 and an M16), Shotguns, Sub-Machine Guns (maybe a Chicago Typewriter unless the time period is too much of a stretch?), and maybe sniper rifles and explosive weapons like the LAW and the RPG.

With that in mind, have you ever had any thoughts about future Fable's and their settings? If so, please share.

You're version of Fable would be terrible. Seriously, I would find Pete and kill him if he turns Fable into that.
Why? Its better than putting all of the innovative power into a damn dog.

You do realize information on Fable III is already available, and that the game will be around 80 years after Fable II...?

The dog was fine, your idea... not so much...

Those are terrible ideas and the best place for peter to bring fable is to the recycling bin. The game is so played out since fable 2 showed us that all peter can come up with in innovation is an AI dog and menial day jobs for money.

That would be... a really bad idea. That might be a fun game, but it certainly wouldn't be a Fable game.

I would put more neutral choices in the game.

Oh really? I guess I haven't been up-to-date enough.

In space! Nah, I like it the way it is, I think if they just take that universe, make it much bigger, more varied with newer technology it should be fine.

Don't talk down to the dog: I fucking loved that dog.

Anyway, I'd like to see more of a focus on childhood. You start small, and gradually grow up. The kid stuff is fairly low stuff: help out old man Potter, save a kid from bullies, what have you. Then as you grow up, these things start to have effects on the world as a whole. It gives the world more scope, and you bond with the characters through the time it takes to grow old. Yes I know that'd be huge, but that's what multiple disks are for.

I'd also like to see more of a consequence for 'death'. I'd like to see additional consequences based on what killed you. For example, if a Bandit kills you, you lose experience, gain a scar and he steals all of your equipped items, and 75% of your gold. You can recover your items and gold by raiding the nearest Bandit camp. Another example, you lose to a Balverine, you become a Balverine every nightfall. When in this form, everyone is hostile towards you and will attack. You need to either run or kill the people. You can fix this by doing a special quest. And my last example: if you are killed by a ghost, you become a ghost. During this time, you must scare a certain number of people within a haunting zone. After you accomplish this, you return to normal.

And lastly, I want to see more focus on that loveable canine. You guys made Black and White for God's sake, you should be able to alter your dog's behavior by scolding or petting him.

I think it should go as far away from Project Natal as possible. But that's just my opinion.
I won't argue there. I don't even understand how they would impliment it into Fable.

I'd like the next Fable to go away.
I was uninterested with the first one.
Uninterested in the second.
I don't believe the third can be any more interesting, even if you were allowed a Cat!

hopefully in a dark alleyway where they beat it to death for being so god awful.
Damn it, i was just going to say "The graveyard".

Also OP, you basically seemed to describe pre-apocalypse Fallout 3 there. I'm not sure how much attraction Fable would have as an FPS to be perfectly honest, but who knows?

Because it's completely missing the point of Fable. That point is, of course, to immerse the player in a world completely differant from his own. It can't be too modern, or it would feel to familiar. Also, the dog was pretty cool.
I thought the point was to live a classic hero's life (hence the name "Fable"), which hasn't been properly done before?

Besides, I doubt you were even alive during the time period I thought of. It still would be different.
