I'm not making this up. There are rumors out there about a COD game that takes place twenty or so years in the future. It doesn't sound like Infinity Ward, but they might do it.
Call of Duty 6: LAZORZ PEW PEW PEW!
I think that could be our game of the year 2009! :3

Aaarrgghh! No more WW games! Pllleeeaasssseee! >_<
I agree and don't. Remember Valve's Day of Defeat?
COD-WAW is no where near as good as Call of Duty 2. And Company of Heroes is AMAZING!!
And hey, don't forget Brothers in Arms, we need more story oriented WWII games, we've seen the fights, but I want to see the people.

WWII games, but they need to stop re-using the same scenarios over again. We've done D-Day, Stalingrad, Okinawa, Pearl Harbor, Operation Market Garden, El Alamein, and Berlin. The war is big enough that (far as I know, I haven't played every Call of Duty game) they still haven't covered a lot of it: what about Greece, the Battle of Britain, the Battle of the Bulge, Sicily, Poland, France, the liberation of the concentration camps, the Battle of Leyte Gulf and Finland. What about more games on factions other than US/Britain/Russia? We need more French Resistance, or the Finnish Partisans (is that what they were called? I don't remember anymore), or the guerrillas in the Philippines and China.

I was thinking World War I, but probably just because we finished a Canadian History topic on that recently. I think trench warfare could be pretty fun to do.

COD: The Darfur Peacekeeping Force.
That would be interesting. Camels and AKs all over the place.

I'd like to see them do Vietnam. More of the same, sure, jsut remake the game with new skins. But at least it's a little different.
And the guerilla warfare would be interesting.

I think that a modern war game would be pretty good, or a game based off the Vietnam War.

I'd say definitely WWI or Vietnam. Vietnam because there really hasn't been a good game yet (with a decent campaign at least) and I would really like to play as Mel Gibson in the Ia Drang Valley. We Were Soldiers fan here.

And too you people who say "a WWI game would consist of sitting in a trench, shooting enemys you cant see, and more sitting in a trench" please do me a favor and read the book All Quiet on the Western Front. Granted, its about Germans, but its excellent.

I'll just say what I said in previous threads.

French revolution. World War 1. Vietnam. Battle of Agincourt. Korean War.

Also bear in mind that you do have to think about Treyarch. Irregardless of whether you like them or not, they are there, and they will be doing different things with their CoD titles.

I think that most people would agree that the Call of Duty series should now end on a positive note rather than be strung out to the point of total disgust for all gamers!

What say you all? :D
Yes. COD must not go the way of Sonic.
You mean become a console mascot and create nearly 40 titles using the name of said mascot, a third of which are decent while the rest throwaway? I think it's got a long way to go till that happens, if anything Halo could go the way of sonic, I mean it's had a bloody spartan in Dead or Alive for cripes sake.

I also think WW1 or Vietnam would be ideal, I have yet to even see a WW1 game, let alone a decent one. And I have yet to see a decent 'Nam one. But I think Treyarch should do those ones.

I think there's a lot to say for the French partisans during WWII.
Also there would be a lot fewer grenades.

You could make a very good Napoleonic era shooter (as mentioned earlier) and it could be quite intense and fun if got the balance of melee vs ranged, like Condemned and Dark Messiah.

Charging through the smoke and haze, bayoneting a french solider, shooting another above you, stabbing the musket into another Frenchmen and letting go. Drawing your sabre and pistol (you'd be an officer like Sharpe), running through a frenchy here and there, discharging the pistol point blank in anothers face. Snatching up a bayoneted musket and forming a square against a cavalry charge with some other soldiers.
