I'm not assuming everyone here is sarcastic but alot of people on the internet happen to be, so I was wondering where you guys suppose your sarcasm comes from? Mine would be heavily from my dad, my best friend, and my best friend's dad, and then amplified by the internet. Of course some people will say it si an inherited trait and that's it, but I was heavily influenced and was wondering if anyone was

To be honest, I can't really tell. There have been way too many things that could have influenced me, and so your question cannot be answered.

Mostly, I just react to the idiocy around me. Deadpan sarcasm is probably my more well known feature among friends. If I were to guess, I'd say I got it from Fraiser. I watched that way too much as a kid. And now.

My Grandpa is so good at sarcasm that no one knows if it's sarcasm half the time. After all some people make it perfectly clear they are being sarcastic.

But it's probably not just him. British humour is usually quite laden with sarcasm though, so maybe something from there.

I'm 3/4 Irish.
My parents used to let me watch Red Dwarf, Blackadder and The Young Ones.
That's a good start,eh?

Partly my dad and my overall philosophy. I hate celebrities and 97.67485922234% of politicians and in South Africa that gives you a LOT to talk about. Generally in a rather satirical way.

From my hate on cynicism. I like to watch people reaction when they are playing fake or dumb with me and I just throw it back on their faces.

I don't consider my self to be a true Deadpan Snarker [tp://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeadpanSnarker] but when I use sarcasm, I'm just reacting to the world around me.

my rapier wit and deadpan sarcasm come from watching foreign sitcoms and movies. i'm not a fan of much American television anymore. also, people that were in sitcoms in the early 90s shouldn't make sitcoms now. they're not good.
EDIT: Takeshi Kitano is one of my favorite deadpanners. anyone who's seen Brother would probably agree.
