i'm not sure if any of you were paying attention at the end, but the game makes it pretty clear that goof-off-in-the-Animus time for Desmond is over and it's time for him to step up to the plate and put a stop to the Templars once and for all before the world gets blown to bits. he's been given a specific task, a task we'll be taking him through once either A) he figures out what the hell is going on, or B) he explains what happened to someone smarter than him, and they take him kindly by the hand, lead him along and point at whoever he needs to stab, as usual.

can't wait to see AC3, no matter where it's set. i love this series. it's about time a game franchise stops treating it's fans like dopes that can't handle anything more strenuous than "go kill the aliens on intergalactic jihad against earth, O Brave Space Marine" and "go save the world from the dark lord who's using the world's life force against it's inhabitants with your best friend and your mentor, O Brave Youth of Questionable Gender" and starts messing with our heads on this kind of level. seriously, when i found all the Truth glyphs and watched the full memory in AC2, the ensuing O.O lasted over an hour.

The bottom of a bin, because they shouldn't make the next one. It's rumored to start future Desmond using his skills he got from Ezio and Altair...

But, if they MUST make another, then I would like to see Victorian England, or possibly Feudal Japan.

I don't see how you can put out a modern setting because of guns.

We are talking about Ubisoft Montreal, which is also currently working on Splinter Cell: Conviction.

They've already given a gun to Ezio, albeit in a rather crappy way, but the system they have now could be tailored to guns and a cover system.

I'm not saying it isn't possible, but considering what resources they have to pull from, I wouldn't put it past them.

The stone age. Just think, you'd have to fight dinosaurs and use clubs to kill your targets!

OK, on a more serious note... there are a lot of cool places for our hero to go... If there were no Desmond to worry about, modern day would be awesome. By modern day, I mean Iraq or Afghanistan.
Your targets would be coalition generals, terrorist leaders, and oil tycoons. It could be flippin' sweet.
EDIT: Because of the modern setting, you'd have to rely on evasion and stealth a lot more. Oh and guns are dishonorable, so you don't use those...

The modern day. Then Assasin's Creed 4 can be set in the future! (And I mean the proper flying-car servant-robots future promised to us by the Jetsons.)

Trophy Achieved: Assassinate 200,000 Guido's and steal their cold chains

In my opinion though AC3 should be in a time where guns where in acurate, ie Before American Civil war era and after Ezios time

you guys are missing something here. Abstergo doesn't want Desmond dead, they need him alive to find the Pieces of Eden, so they would just try to subdue him using tazers, batons and brute force. if any of the Abstergo goons had a gun, it'd be the same as having guards with bows; the guards would be ordered not to shoot to kill, but stand there with a gun out, threatening to put one in his leg, or something. also, Desmond's only using knowledge gained through the Animus, so unless he had prior experience, he doesn't know how to handle modern firearms, he'd probably just stick to light throwing knives.

I don't really care were, so long as the story is continued in a logical way.

But for great Assassinations, world war II era Germany killing Adolf Hitler would be pretty sweet

EDIT: also splitting it into several different eras/places during one game would be cool

If it's put in anything like a world war setting I'll lose any interest whatsoever and I absolutely love both games they've released so far. I'd also hate it if it was set in Japan too, that's not original.

I'd like to see it in either revolutionary France or Victorian London which have both been suggested before but I have to say I can't really think of better settings than that.

Or you could possibly set each "level" as a different assassin with Desmond roaming through time finding the pieces of Eden.

Or how about one of the very first (If you've deciphered all the glyphs you know who I mean)

Oh and for those going on about killing Hitler, you've not done the glyphs have you?

From what i've seen in AC2, i'll go with the "split-game" theory. Desmond going to south American temples while learning secret assasin skills as well as the next location he needs to go to through the Animus 2.5 or something close to that.

It should have something to do with the Mayans.
There are clues in AC2 that show a Mayan temple, so this is really what I'm hoping for.

If it's in the future, or even modern times, I'm not going to buy/play it.

I'd love to see revolutionary France or Victorian London, seeing as those are... well.. fucking awesome time periods

But other periods like The Spanish Inquisition, WW1, and The Cold War would be cool.

Okay, let's set the story straight. For one thing, the majority of the series, if they beyond Screed 3, will have to take place in Europe/Africa/The Middle East. That being said, quite a few of the suggested ideas are win. Such as the French Revolution, Victorian England, Ireland, and the Spanish Inquisition. But here's a thought. Instead of killing Hitler if the game is (God forbid) set in WW2, Hitler is an Assassin. I just blew all you CoD players' minds, didn't I? That tends to happen. Anyway, a time period without guns, or when they were still inaccurate. Old West, pilgrim! Desmond will go into the mind of John Wayne!

Anyway. I'd really rather not see anything beyond the 1950's. That's probably me playing too much Fallout 3, but whatever. As I said, beyond the 50's is going to detract quite a bit from the fanbase. As it is, I'd really like Screed to go back in time. Like, Rome, around the time when Caesar was in power, or shortly before and after him. Think about it. You play as/help Brutus kill him, and then you must deal with the repercussions. Brutus puts you forward as the mastermind behind the plot and claims that you blackmailed him or something. You are thrown into a Roman prison and the only chance of survival and getting revenge on Brutus is fighting as a Gladiator or something. It'd be awesome, but it's also already been done by Russel Crow or w/e his name is.

Another interesting place to put the game would be America, either Revolutionary War or Civil War. The idea of killing Lincoln has been mentioned already, but there was a picture in one of the puzzles of George Washington with a Piece of Eden. This could mean that either the Americans were Assassins attempting to hide their Piece of Eden or they were Templars and King George III was an Assassin attempting to keep America under his thumb while his subordinates searched for the Piece.
