That...is actually pretty likely. Well done.

Large spoilers in this post :)

After playing the game, I'm in two minds over where the next one will be set. It would be understandable to put the game in the "present day" (although we are not told at what time Desmond is actually living). With the information that the templars are only a minor problem compared to the solar flares that are happening in desmond's time, as well as the fact that Desmond is now a fully trained Assassin, means that the present time is probably where Ubisoft will go. However the present would mean the introduction of guns, and with it the need to completely overhaul the combat system from that of the first two games (I'd consider that a good thing :p). Swordfights would be out, gun combat would be in. Perhaps the game would have to be more stealth orientated.

Then again, there is the chance that for some arbitrary reason Desmond could be put back in the animus and put in a different location. I remember one of the Ubisoft devs saying that they could make a hundred Screed games all in different locations if they wanted. As long as guns weren't introduced, there would be little to change to the basic system of the previous games. I think that's a great idea.

Of course the problem with that would be that there would be too little gameplay innovation from Screed 2, so the game would get panned by critics. With the need for new gameplay, it would make the most sense to go to the present day, with freerunning, and the new gameplay innovations would take in to account guns.

Personally I think that would be awful. I love the Screed games (both of them) for their immersion in the past, the concepts of free running and hiding in plain sight, and the realistic feel to the cities. I hate Desmond's back story, since its far too silly with all its conspiracy theories and forerunner ideas. Is playing the characters in the animus not enough? I don't think the over-arching story is that necessary.

So basically I would like to see it set in another interesting part of history. Roman empire would be awesome, so would fuedal japan. Of course Screed 2 was supposed to be set in Revolutionary France...now thats an idea :)

Neanderthals didn't have that kind of brain mentality to tell who has been bad and who has been good. =\

1920's - 1930's era of prohibition fighting all the famous gangsters. Al Capone as a Templar would be cool.

Either late 1800s in England or America or the "present" all over the world. Also, what is with everyone's obsession of this game being set in Japan? I have any idea but I, for once, don't want to come off as a troll.

it has to be with desmond, they cant justify returning to the past as theyve shown desmond can fight e.t.c.
i anticipate it will not be as good as AC2

Because some of the messages left by subject 16 at the end of the 1st game were of pagodas, as well as one of the pieces of eden being located there on the massive globe map a the end of screed 1

French Revolution or Spanish Inquisition would be nice, if a bit boring. Although really, this family seems awfully well-travelled to have roots in Syria, to have been able to settle as a noble family in Italy after moving ~280 years before Ezio, then several other countries (knowing Ubisoft) before settling in the US for a few generations? My word. Plus he's got Templar blood along with his Assassin blood.

Edit: Actually, 19th Century England isn't far-fetched and I really would love to play that.

I want to take orders from Nikola Tesla!
Or have him invent crazy electrical stuff for me. (Red Alert series fans know what I'm talking about)

Xandus117's Lincoln idea is a nice one too.

Or the Cold War could be an interesting time period.

Victorian London or Revolutionary France would be the most interesting. However if they could do it right, something set in the American Civil War would also be cool.
