Science class 7th Grade

I remember having an early out that day for Parent/Teacher Conferences. We were all pretty psyched to leave then everyone's phone's began to ring. And then TVs were flipped on...

and the rest as they say...was history...

I was in Science class at the time, the teacher turned on the radio and my class (which was normally EXTREMELY noisy), was just dead quiet.

EDIT:// I was in 6th grade, so I was about 12 years old.

i was in eighth grade, we actually had two unscheduled fire drills in the morning because of it, and during the drills the staff was trying to figure out what was going on. they announce later in the afternoon that a state of emergency has been declared, but didn't elaborate as to why. i found out next class exactly what happened, and didn't grasp the severity of it until i got home and saw the images on t.v. i also didn't realize that my mother's best friend worked in one of the towers. she very sadly didn't make it out, and it damaged my mother in a way that i had never seen.

First day of kindergarden.
Was in brooklyn, thank god my parents made it out of there alive.

We then proceded to go BACK to broadway to see if we could salvage our stuff.

after recieving a "No" from the officer, we went to brooklyn and had a nice lunch.

I do say, 9/11 was a pretty good day for me. Being 5 and all.
What part of the building were your parents in? My mother worked in the North Tower. Luckily, she got out as well.

As for me, i was in the third grade at the time, properly shitting myself when i heard the news on the radio.

I was 10 at the time, I was still asleep (I am on the west coast), my Mom comes into my room and wakes me up and tells me something horrible has happened in New York. I go into the living room, thinking it's just some fire or something, wondering why I was woken up. Then I looked straight at the TV right before the second plane hit.

My mother was horrified, I was speechless. It is quite a hit to a 10 year old seeing a 747 plow directly into a landmark that he had just visited not a year before.

i was in math class when the principle announced it over the PA system. i had never heard of the World Trade Center before so i wondered what the big was that they had to announce it in the middle of class to tell everyone to turn on their TVs.

Ya have to go "Search Title Only" although that brings up the old one but not this one. Our search button is... special... Really the site creators should have stuck with the standard forum layout that most sites have. Sure it is unoriginal but at least it works.
Yeah, normally the search Force is strong in me. I've never seen it come back with 0 results... thats just weird. I can usually find 3 or 4 of anything i search for. The sith must be clouding my vision.

I was 7. It was strange because I was home that day and my mom and I found out at the same time. I don't think I will ever forget the first tower falling, or the look on my mothers face when it did.

Jesus, lots of youngin's here. I was at home trying to sleep after my night shift job but the damn phone kept ringing. I finally answered and it was my mother telling me turn on the TV and I caught the second plane flying into one of the towers. I muttered over the phone that the sunuvabitch finally did it and my mother asked me what I was talking about.

Then my freaked out neighbor lady who grew up in the 50's came over and was hysterical and feared Russian paratroopers were going to start dropping from the sky. I had to explain to her about bin laden, al qaeda, jihad- and she'd never heard of any of it.

The guy told us we were on his shit list like 5 or 6 years before it happened and no one listened. A man with his own army, his own money and who one upped the russians and no one paid him any mind.

Then everyone got the edited for television version of the story behind bin laden, years of news condensed into an hour special and everyone thought they knew it all. That was my recollection of that day and the week that followed.

One veil of ignorance lifted only to be exchanged for another. Mostly it was aimless hatred.
