From what I've seen of Dragon Age, it seems more Mass Effect than Oblivion in its gameplay style, and more like the Witcher in its maturity.

I did have it on pre-order, but I cancelled. It just doesn't... Hmm, it's hard to say. I think it just looks way too "done". The story seems to be fairly typical for fantasy, the world looks fairly typical, and I just don't think I want to get it for full price. I'll wait for the sales and for a few more monetary units to appear in my bank.

Pre-ordered the collectors edition! Just have to survive my psychology mid-term tomorrow and I'll be home free!

As long as the story meets the Bioware quality, I'll be happy with whatever they throw at me :)

The hype isn't here because everyone is at the new Dragon Age: Origins social site set up by Bioware. Go there if you want to hear hype. I already did. :p

At the moment I hfidn it hard to be hyped about any game, my interest in gaming has waned a fair bit to be honest, unless its stalker, which I can play all day.

As for "Game Of The Year", hard to say. There is some decent competition out there. Especially with Modern Warfare 2 dropping in next week. But RPG Of The Year, is a pretty good reality since Mass Effect 2 isn't hitting until January.
I can't think of any major RPGs that came this year?

Am I blatantly forgetting something or has this been a bad year for RPGs?

Because people are too busy hyping up outdated shooters made for ADD kids. The whole series of which turned into a crappy luck based perk fest after the second.

I cant wait for it but since mw2 is coming out next week and cod4 was stupid popular its kinda being hyped out the ass so something with less hype like dragon age kinda gets over looked

High Fantasy bores me. even if it is made by Bioware. The trailers were a huge turn off as well.

Well, Dragon Age = Oblivion, while Borderlands = Fallout 3.
And I liked Oblivion more than Fallout, so I like Dragon Age over Borderlands!

Also, can't you read?

Then don't quote other people? Don't make requests if you're just going to do it to other people yourself...

As for the topic at hand, I am painfully looking forward to Dragon Age, I've needed a new fantasy game for quite a while now.

This has been a bad year for RPGs. That's why I opted to pre-order Dragon Age instead of Borderlands, though I've rented and loved Borderlands.

I am excited, although watching the really really stiff facial acting from the characters in the trailers bothered me more deeply than seems logical. I knew that they had time to improve it, and even if they didn't it was still only a small part of the experiece, but...well, we'll just have to see how distracting it is.

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes before the user reviews start to go up. It looks like being a pretty long game, and Bioware games are best played good and evil- I suspect anybody who posts for a couple of days after release will be pelted with accusations that they haven't played it through yet.

Anyway, I'm hyped. This is my hyped face, it just looks very unexcited. I've been taking emoting cues from the trailers.

Wathced some footage...

Awful last gen animations. General graphical presentation looks cheap and dated. Can't believe this is the same company who made Mass Effect.

Combat seems to be turn based? Can anyone confirm this?

Because if it is then I shall be giving this one a skip.

I believe it will be a good game, but I honestly just don't care about the game. I really don't.

Odd to be honest.

There is something called, I don't know, personal opinions? Just kidding, of course you know it. :p My point is: You can say that a game can be good and appealing, but perhaps not for your tastes. I, for example, recognize both Oblivion's and Fallout 3's strengths and yet I didn't like them.

As for Dragon Age? I must say (repeat) that I'm not excited. Part of it is the lack of any really interesting features. Another part is that we return back to a boring old fantasy setting. Another part is the whole dark, edgy and gritty aspect that Bioware wants to give the game. (Seriously, what the hell is the deal with this blood dragon on the game's cover?)
