Which breed of dog do you have/want to have?

So I live in a place that doesn't allow a furry companion.
This makes me sad because for most of my life, my family bred beagles. If you don't know what a beagle is, it is a small hunting dog. We raised them for people to use on hunts, but some people also bought them as pets for their kids or for their spouse.
WARNING: Beagles do not generally make good inside dogs. Beagles need a lot of exercise and are more of a "pack" oriented dog. They really enjoy companionship and like I said, lots and lots of exercise is needed to keep these dogs from tearing up your house.

But, as a kid I've always had a thing for BIG dog breeds. I love big dogs, the bigger the better. Since I'm short in comparison to my boyfriend (he's 6'5 or 6'6" and I'm 5'4") I also think having a big dog would make me feel safe and comfortable.
I'm also not a fan of "squeeky" dogs. Pomeranians/Yorkies/Chihuahua's are not my style.

I want a great dane. I want a big ole harliquin, which I will name NAMU!

I want a Great Dane because they're big dogs and they're friendly. I really want a big, cuddly nice dog and the great thing about a great dane is that they're so nice they are know as the "gentle giant".
The only thing that saddens me is that the danes don't have a long lifespan.:(

So, which breed do you have/want to have?

She's fills your head with awesome when you look at her.
How does she fill your head with awesome? Do you have a pic of your boxer?

I think boxers are wonderful dogs.:)

I've always liked huskeys. They're so fluffy! But without having more hair than anything else.
I don't mind mutts though. Our dog was a mix of so many breeds, no one could work out what he came from.
And now I miss him again...

I have a Fox Terrior-Jack Russel mix, and if I knew how to post pictures I'd show you how she looks.
img url /img put square brackets around the image tags, you have to upload them to some site though.

Give me a husky, my God, those things are awesome.
My boyfriend and I dog sat his sister's husky.
If you don't train those things early (very very strict training) then they will chew up everything you own. I mean everything. The dog tried to eat the comforter on the bed.

Huskies are beautiful dogs, but require a lot of training. They're super hyper when they're young. I love huskies, but I may never own one.

I've got a Bernese mountain dog, who it has to be said (sorry buddy) is an idiot.
His average though pattern is as follows:

"Hey!!! that guy doesn't know how cute and cuddly I am LET'S GO SHOW HIM"
After which he proceeds to run into the poor guy and everything stupid enough to find itself somewhere along the path leading up to the guy/girl/any other object which grabbed his attention.

Still you can't not love him. After all, who doesn't love a 50kg force of nature who is under the impression that he's a quarter his own size?

They are so effing cute though, even though they are huge cuddly beasts of a dog.
