Pyromaniac; I use grenades, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, flamethrowers and thanks to fallout 3 the mini nuke.
As long as it leaves a big explosion I'm all over it.

For most RPGs I build myself as the guy who wields a massive sword with insane haircut who is your saviour who tries to win over everybody.

For FPS I play dead, as being brought up on JRPGs hasnt given the greatest aim or reflexes.

I generally play a sniper or a heavy in FPS's. Except TF2, I play a Pyro or Heavy in that.
In RPGS's I tned to go with the guy who can use the biggest sword or an archer, depending on the aiming system. Like in Oblivion, being an archer is shit because its a ***** to aim and i just dont find it to be much fun. So I just got the biggest sword I could find and went with that.

I prefer to play a balanced character in RPGs if possible. I like the flexibility of being at least ok at both mele and ranged attacks. All too often, characters with mainly ranged attacks are weak as water if they are attacked at close range. If a balanced character isn't available, I go with the "tank" as I like beefing him up with leveling up his strength, armor, weapons etc. If the game gives me the option of teaching my tank spells, I usually go with healing spells mostly so I don't have to search for health potions as much. In military games, however, I enjoy being the sniper as it's cool to hide and pick off those guys who have been killing me so easily at close range when playing as other units in previous maps. Especially if they trash talk me when they kill me. Kind of satisfying to take out the hotshot players on multiplayer maps with a sniper rifle.

I usually play as the good guy when given the choice in games as I don't like doing terrible things to people in games nor in real life. Sometimes, while playing Fable II, I'll accidently hurt an NPC who isn't attacking me and I feel bad about it. I also felt bad about seeing what the unexpected consequences were of some of my actions in Fallout 3. Like when you get the Sherrif to go talk to the guy who wants someone to blow up Megaton....

Heroic Swordsman, or the Crazed Shotgun/Skorpion Kamikaze

Though in Oblivion I've been working on my Blunt weapons skill to get that up.

Paladin/Knight in RPGs (I'll just act like a brave and noble warrior if no options).

Assault Rifle or Shotgun in FPSs (I'm not overly accurate but my reflexes are quicker than greased cheetah lightning).

Dual-wielding weapons, whether guns or swords.

Oh, and mid-range weaponry otherwise.. Battlerifle in Halo 2.. (usually coupled with a plasma pistol for that extra dead-dealingness..)

In RPGs and MMOs I'm the mage. Magic is my game, son-- absurdly high amounts of damage is all I ask for. I dunno why-- I guess big numbers just turn me on.

In FPSes I usually play as the guy who spends 90% of the game respawning. This is due in part to the fact that I am bad at most FPS games and also in part to the fact that I prefer rocket launchers and other explodey weapons-- and the best way to use these weapons is to be three feet from the person you're trying to hit.

In fighting games I tend to lean towards quick characters with lots of long-range utility: Lucas in SSBB, I-No in Guilty Gear and Cervantes in Soul Calibur (4).

In games that involve moral choices I usually play the good guy. Evil is overrated and tends to make things too silly for my liking.

So there you go.

In fighting games I tend to go for medium-strong and try and control the match.

Some advice I got from playing (a long time ago) Magic: The Gathering was "Always know if you're rushing or defending." That's so true in most fighting games, Soul Calibur in particular. If you play aggressively but without focus it won't get you very far.

I love slinging swords but no matter what game I pick I'm always better as a spell-caster. World of warcraft, Mass effect, Fable, Gothic...

I usually play as the fast and agile class. I don't know why, but I'm usually amazing with these kind of classes.

FPS: Something like an assault rifle. I usually use it as a sniper rifle. Yes I'm weird.
RPG: If possible I take somebody who is using daggers.

I'm melee -- or close range -- unless circumstances demand I snipe. Whether that means I play a tank (World of Warcraft's Warrior class)or a bullet-spammer (CounterStrike: Source's Dual Elites and Team Fortress 2's Scout and Pyro), I prefer to get up close and personal with my enemies.

I guess I'm one of the weird ones. I say this because I enjoy changing my styles up considerably. In an FPS type situation I switch from sniping to shotgunning and everything in between. I guess I get bored too easily if I just stick with a single play style. -shrug-

In an RPG sense I've done the same. I play in multiple ways from good to evil, wizard to warrior, bastard to saint. I like seeing how different approaches to situations work out for the game. It also adds more life to my RPGs that actually gives you choices like that (AKA nonjRPGs). Again I think this also is because I get bored to easily just playing one kinda class. XD

In FPS, anything that has something to do with pyrotechnics.
In RPG, always the most complicated warrior.

Is anybody actually ever a nice guy in any RPG? It seems like a lot more work, not to mention patience being the good guy. Either I'm a murderous freak or a petty theif.
