That Mario game for the DS..., forgot the name, it is like the old-school Mario games but with newer graphics, AND I WANT TO MURDER MAN WHO MADE IT I stopped playing it quickly
Huh, what about that game is frustrating?
The hole, making your jumps perfect thing..., I think Yahtzee reviewed it be right back with an edit
You are talking about New Super Mario Bros right? Yahtzee never reviewed it, and while I can see why someone would be disappointed with the game, I don't really see how it could frustrate someone. I found it insultingly easy, especially compared to the older Mario platformers.
Well I just suck at jumping a certain distance correctly

Tekken 6... It's soo.... Meh.

It's like I want to be good at fighting games to see what all the fuss is about, but really, they're so bland and boring I just can't get into them. But I used to, tekken 3 was the bomb.

in H.L. opposing force, those ninja black opps women can do 20 dmg in 1 hit so I always end up haveing to waist all my snarks on them. And it dosn's help when those little buggers can turn on you.

I hated those, that being said there's many enemies in half life that are overpowered like that.

anybody remember a game called "Trespasser"? it was one of the first games with a phisics engine. you were a girl who crashed on Site B (Jurassic Park Island). you had no HUD, everytime you take a shot she counts down the remaining bullets. it annoyed me as fuck. and your health meter was a heart tattoo on her breast, you had to look down to see it. you also die from 5 foot falls. and T-rex were invincible. you just had to avoid them, same with Albertosaurus. the raptors would sneak up on you in packs. the controls were very difficult to use, the left mouse controled her right arm and the right mouse made you pick up items. you HAD to crouch to pick up items on the ground the space bar was the attack button, if you had a gun, you would shoot, but if you had a blunt object like a stick or rock she would just swing the object back and forth franticaly. extremely easy to die in that game.

God yes I remember trespasser. I saw it in a bargain bin ages ago for like £2, it had a cool Jurassic park cover so I figured awesome.

Well I got it up and running and was just left thinkig 'what the fuck' I see what they were trying to do but my god did it ever fail badly. Was a while ago but I remember that when you were walking around she would just randomly spout out bullshit.
Literally complete nonsense about sitting at a bus stop or something.

Goddamn, though to be fair, I was really more just weirded out by that game rather than frustrated

That game was like torture at times.

For every minute of exhilarating free running, there was half an hour of awkward platforming, cryptic signposting and dreadful combat.

I finished it and brought it straight back.

Gears of War 2. Only because the first was my favorite online shooter, ever. And to me, GoW2 was just garbage.

Games that have shit controls, like when I played Resident Evil 5 on the Xbox360 I pretty much gave up on the last level. If I'd stuck with it I could have beaten it, but it wasn't really the frustration of being unable to complete it, and more frustrating how I felt that I was fighting with the controls more than fighting the actual enemies. I hate how most of the game had evolved into a decent-but-ordinary third person shooter, yet the game was STILL clinging onto its dated, unnecessary survival horror elements (in this case, the horrible controls survival horror games all seem to have). Also the entire movement felt linear and restricted, the game only let me jump when it wanted me to jump; same with crouching and climbing and taking cover. Its slow, clunky, imprecise, and this is not to mention not being able to move while aiming.

Same goes for Dead Space. I'm playing it through at the moment and mostly finding it decent, but the controls on the PC are frustrating and I'm not entirely sure I'll bother gritting my teeth through it if there's a difficulty spike somewhere near the end.

I had the same problem but with Morrowind on the Xbox, and well, Morrowind in general, just some really poorly thought out control concepts there.

There are 3 times were a broke my controller.
1) the first was trying to earn Pure trophy in Flower... I must have played that level like 10 times before I found the trick (or rather, looked on Youtube to see what the trick was)
2) The second was when I was playing FF9. I spent 2 hours fighting a guy who lowers your stats to the point of uselessness, and takes away 2 characters from the party. I started again. I beat him in about 20 minutes because I knew what to do that time... Then I got killed by the very next enemy, that's when I broke the controller.
3) I broke my mouse by beating on it too much, Medal of Honor: Airborne was the guilty party. Putting guys with RPG's in towers that you can't shoot at until they can shoot you too, and having guys that can flank you while you are doing this IS. NOT. COOL.

most games in general are very tedious and have the most annoying tasks you have to keep repeating in order to move on. that's why I've lost interest in most of the ones I've been playing. I used to love level grinding, at least when it benefits me, but after a while, I'd rather just complete a simple set of tasks, and then move on.. not fight the same type of monster 100 times just to max out a percentage to get an accessory, and possibly miss special ones because you didn't know the area was going to be inaccessible after a certain point. (star ocean: last hope)

When being expected to level up massively to even have a chance at moving on, it can be very frustrating. it's best when this type of thing moves alongside the storyline, and not a main requirement to actually play the game.

F-Zero GX...just trying to beat the story mode missions were hard enough, but to actually unlock any bonus characters, you have to beat both hard and then very hard modes of the missions...almost smashed my gamecube controller a few times from that, good thing those things are durable
Oh my yes.

Also when I was a kid, Mega Man 1 made me curse in front of my parents. I still remember that. No video games for a week! Now I find it not so hard, but back then it was a huge challenge.

More recently... I got into this game called VVVVVV, and the Time Trials are killing me, as well as the Gravitron. If you've played it, you know what I'm talking about.

And one more. Hammerfest [http://www.hfest.net]. The main game is not TOO bad once you've got the hang of it, but just try some of the parallel dimensions (especially if you are good enough to get to the ones with Raspberries). Or, if you manage to beat it, have fun winning on Nightmare mode! You think Bubble Bobble was bad, this one will leave you hopping mad. And yet it's SO fun.
