God of War.

Its just the same (pretty damn good) game over and over again but with better or worse (depending on PSP or PS3) graphics
The series is done. How can it go downhill?
They made one for the PS3 after God Of War 3. Also 3 was just an extention of 2...making it slightly worse

Also, I heard rumors they might be doing "Kratos versus other Gods"

Call of Duty is basically up at the top. What was once an innovative and refreshing shooter has become as predictable as EA's yearly sports games.

I would say Metal Gear Solid, but I really want a remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2, so unless this next gen Metal Gear that isn't Rising is a sequel (one that really doesn't need to be made considering how 4 wrapped almost every strand of the story up) then that I still want.

Colin Mcrae Series. Become too much about energy drink fueled events and less about Rallying.

assassin's creed's multiplayer is great.
the new WWE LOOKS like a big step in the right direction.
Reach is definately better than 3...

...thats all i can say for sure...
i cant think of anything else that isnt going downhill...

For me its

Fable

Look the first was amazing I'll admit that but the second...IDK where to start, EVERYTHING about it was either useless or poorly made. The magic casting could be spammed by using a time spel then casting a very high level fire/lightning area spell, the combat is meh, going into slow motion evry hit for a dramatic effect becomes irritating after a while, and the whole basing the game around interacting with generic NPC's was the dumbist idea someone could think of. WHY THE HELL would I give a shit about a NPC that will probably disappear once I leave and reenter the city? Why would I want to marry person A over person B when they are both the same? Its a shame they went down the path where making samesex marraige was a top priority.

Final Fantasy

Look I LOVED XII (thats twelve NOT thirteen) because of all the sidequests and openworldness but thirteen just took everything right about XII and threw it out the windoe. I know some people may like FFXIII[footnote]LOL wut??[/footnote]but me being a person that can play any game, FFXIII is the first game[footnote]the second game is Chinatown Wars because I found the overhead camera to be atrocious and the third is Assassins Creed 2 because NO MATTER what YOU HAVE to be caught after you assasinate someone, so I just said "whats the point of being stealthy?" and just stopped playing[/footnote] where it bored me so much that I refused to play it any further (I got to gran pulse just so you know).

I can't just list one game to why a game is series is going down hill right? Well ust take a look at the mess that is FFXIV. That is all

Feel free to flame me and/or add your own suggestions.
Wow! Right on the mark, except Final Fantasy was downhill after VII, after that the men started looking like girls, the girls were more macho than the lead characters and i just disliked them.

Dragon Age :(

I actually liked the combat, graphics, and story in Origins. The sequel seems to be taking it all away to become more "streamlined" and "edgy". I'm sure Bioware will still release an awesome game, but it's a shame that it's at the cost of what made the original so unique.
I loved Dragon Age, but calling it 'unique' is just insane. It is one of the most unoriginal games ever made. Still great though, and I think the sequel will be even better.

OT: WoW, of course. It gets worse every expansion.

Uhh, no they didn't. They made Ghost of Sparta for the PSP which was a prequel. Funny you are trying to tell a guy with a avatar of a GOW character.

Final Fantasy isn't going down hill. The series thrives on reinventing itself every release, so people who liked the old ones probably don't like the new ones and come to the conclusion that it's going down hill. Lots of people who never played a FF before adore 13, and lots of people who never played a FF before 7 says it's the best, same with 10, and every other FF out there.
I can definitely see the reasoning to your argument, but to me -a relative newcomer to FF- I was sorely disappointed with XIII. Seven months ago, i started playing the series with VII, then VI, then IV, then VIII, and finally X, so I understand the whole reinvention thing. While XIII, which I eventually got around to, did reinvent the combat, that doesn't excuse it from being done poorly. On top of that, there are problems outside the combat, such as linearity, dialogue-saturated cut-scenes, etc. I'm not going to spout the same arguments you've probably already heard regarding combat, but I just wanted to give some input, because you make a good, albeit somewhat invalid point. BTW, my faves were 7, 6, and 8.

OT: That being said, my main pick is Final Fantasy. Big shock. Next would be Jak and Daxter. C'mon ND, make a real Jak and Daxter sequel!

Call of Duty, ever since CoD 4, the Call of Duty franchise has been going downhill
CoD MW = Simple and Great with a few tiny things that can annoy and Great Campaign
CoD 5 WaW = Again Simple and Great but would get boring oh so quicker than its predecessor, a few things that annoy. But the Zombies made up for the quickness of boringness. Also capaign was abit cliche
CoD MW2 = Great but oh so annoying, so very annoying which made me not play it as much as the others. No Zombies so yeah. Also campaign was great but you could see the same basic formula which was behind MW's campaign
CoD Black Ops = No were near as addictive and very buggy. Zombies is at first difficult to get your head round but after that the same great fun from WaW. Finally the Campaign was very confusing a had me playing it in a daze, no so much being abmursed into it like the others but because of the over use of explosions and gun-fire, quite liked to see the gore back after there being parctially nil in MW2, but thats my opinion.

So yeah at this rate i'm looking forward to Modern Warfare 3 :)

I'm surprised that I wasn't the first to say this.

It took twenty-two posts before somebody mentioned Call of Duty. I'm somewhat impressed. Not that I like Sonic much to start with, but it's reputation has been dragged through the mud and brutally raped - to put it mildly.

It makes no chronological sense, the developers don't give a flying shit about Capcom's fans, it's stupid.

Final Fantasy was out the window after 8
I'm with you here. I played them all, through to 9. 8 was a chore, 9 was the first one I didn't finish, and the rest---

oh, the rest...

Attempts by the crystal chronicles to reinvigorate the spirit of the series are paltry at best. I want FF to go back to its primitive roots.

Umm Fable? Can't really think of any others really... Just waiting for a ME2 hater to walk in...
I know, what is with that lately xD

Mass Effect 3 announces, we're all riding high on an orgy of joy, and now I haven't seen a positive ME2 post in weeks xD

All I have to say one the matter is that it may be "less" of an RPG, but it's also a better game, and in terms of stats-based RPGs, ME wasn't all that anyway (although it was a very good game). Complaining they've got a better focus on where's best for the series to go is beyond me - if you want a deep stats-based combat RPG, go play Dragon Age, talking of which...

The combat is the same essentially, all I can gather is that you can't zoom quite as far out, and cooldowns work differently - still tactical as before, especially on PC. Graphics-wise, the very latest screens/vids I've seen do finally look better than Origins, and as for the story, they're doing something different structurally. I see that as good. If not, you may as well just replay Origins if you want the same story.

I understand. I've fan-raged all over the Capcom Unity forums, though given my delivery, it's more fan-bitter sarcasm.
