There's always Red Dead, It would be nice to see Viggo Mortensen in an actual western.
Hidalgo was better than a western. Cowboy Viggo Mortenson, with the horse he calls a brother, racing through the Sahara against a whole bunch of Bedouins? Come on, the setting alone beats the crap out of a regular western.
As for what would make a good movie: don't you people ever read books? I mean, I thought the point of a video game is that it's
better than a movie. Some would argue that video games are the way of the future, at least concerning visual media.
I would like to see a) "The Sword of Shannara" by Terry Brooks made into a movie. Yes, it's almost a direct ripoff of Lord of the Rings, but it's the first fanasty book I ever read, and it's still good on it's own merit.
b) "Shadow of the Hegemon" by Orson Scott Card. The novel is part of the backstory to Shadow Complex, which might just be
THE best 2D side-scroller I've ever played, and I had about 50 games for NES when I was little.
c) "The Ravenor Trilogy" by Dan Abnett. Yes, I realise they're in the midst of producing the Ultramarines movie, but depending on the success of that, I think that it could be the logical next step for 40K on film.
Edit: Derp, I obviously completely mis-read the OP.
