Screw that "Spiritual successor" crap, Pokemon Channel was NOT a sequel to Hey You, Pikachu! THAT is what I want!

Also one for Pokemon Channel, too, though. And Yoshi's Story!

Unlike the developers of games starting a certain blue hedgehog, Capcom and Inti Creates know how to take a series back to its roots successfully.
Whoa, what do you mean? Sonic 4 hasn't even come out yet, how can you possibly bash it?

Dark Messiah, I seriously LOVED that game.
Baldur's Gate 2 should get a sequel as well.

And where the HELL is HL2: Episode 3?!

EDIT:
Also, this.

Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophesy).
I've heard Heavy Rain is the spiritual successor to that game, but I haven't played either one of 'em so I really don't know.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

Mirrors Edge should get a sequel. The first one had the right idea but was missing something that prevented it from becoming a really good game. They were deffinetly on the right track though.
Yeah you're right. I think the thing your looking for here is a storyline. Sure, running about rooftops is incredibly fun, but at least give us an interesting reason to do so!

I'd like to see:

- Dreamfall: The Longest Journey - Damn they never even ENDED that game properly!
- Fahrenheit - Heavy rain doesn't count, I don't own a PS3 :(
- Half Life 2: Episode 3 NOW please! Stop making more L4D Valve you slackers.
- Bully
- Silent Hill - Homcoming, Origins and Shattered Memories don't count. Period.

Sequels already in the works that I DON'T want to see:

- Call of duty/Modern Warfare etc - Ahhh stop with the yearly updates already!
- Max Payne - Please just leave this great franchise alone, while it's still good.
- Fable 3 - Seriously, is there really any point any more?

Who said I was talking about Sonic 4? That's not the first game where Sega claimed that they were returning Sonic to his roots, you know.

inFamous was horrible. Why did you like it?

I really don't understand why people who say "game x is great" are allowed a free pass, but someone saying they don't like a game gets people going "omg why didn't you like it?". When will people accept that there isn't one single game in the world that every person will like?

Sorry, I've just heard a LOT of hate on Sonic 4 already. Honestly, I don't like Sonic very much, but I'm waiting to see if it's good. If so, then I'll wait pleasantly for Sonic 4 Episode 2. If not, then I can finally prove to my friend I'm right.

After playing some PS2 classics last night (Bully, Psychonauts, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect) I started thinking about games that never got any much deserved sequels.

So Escapists, which game series would you like to see continued?
Luigi's Mansion, i had to quote you for this because it desperately needs a sequel! Nintendo could have made a ton of money if they did, with the wii motion and what not and the vaccum put together= AWESOME GAME!

they could even have called it[HEADING=3]LUIGI'S WINNABANGO[/HEADING]

or was it the bagel?

Chrono Trigger/Cross, and Mirror's Edge. Other than those, most of my favorite series have gotten sequels
Amen, exactly the two games I was thinking of. Mirror's Edge wasn't BAD, it was INCOMPLETE. It could've done with a deeper story and a little longer gameplay.
Chrono Trigger/Cross, and I'dd like to add Terranigma, are games that ruled, and never really got a sequel/remake. Though I fear it'll never be good enough to live up to the original.

Probably especially Terranigma, because
You'dd have to either make a new protagonist+dimension or bring the old one back to life
, which'll kill the idea...

Conker's bad fur day. I would love to see a Psychonauts sequel but Tim Schafer doesn't make sequels to the best of my knowledge.

Personally, I'm not holding my breath for Sonic 4 either. I am quite skeptical that it will end up being another failed attempt at going back to the roots and all that other stuff SEGA speaks of for almost every new Sonic game these days, but I can wait for the demo before rendering judgment (game appearing on Xbox Live Marketplace = instant "trial" version of game).

Basically, I'm taking the Yahtzee approach with this one. Assume game will be bad, and game is indeed bad, hurray for smug self-satisfaction. Assume game will be bad, and game is actually good, hurray for being pleasantly surprised.

But no, I wasn't specifically talking about Sonic 4 when I made that comment.

I enjoyed InFamous because it was essentially an open-world platformer. It had everything in it that I love about a game: it was easy to pick up and play (seriously, how it jumps right into your last loaded game when you start it up was pure brilliance! It actually saves you a good amount of time); it had lots of collectibles that were fun to find; you could upgrade your powers to make them more devastating; the story was engaging and had a unique style; the missions were extremely varied and fun to do; when you died, you respawned relatively close to your last position so you never had to spend hours redoing the same mission over and over; the world was fun to explore; and overall, it was just a great experience that really impressed me.

By the way, you're allowed to say that you like a game, but not that you hate a game, because people generally don't appreciate it when you shit on their favorite games for no reason. Feel free to offer reasons why you didn't like the game to counter my reasons why I loved it, if you feel inclined to.

Eternal Darkness needs a sequel a thousand times over. I'm starting to agree with Yahtzee, Silicon Knights must be scared of making money.

I think Fable can be improved upon. Loved the second one, so I got the first, liked the second one better. It's interesting to see what Molyneux is promising and then comparing it to what you get. Also thinking a Zelda along the lines of OoT would be very cool. Still the best in the series in my opinion. You know if they brought out a DS version of that game I would get it in a heartbeat!
