Hi there.

My name is ZeroMachine. Meta0X on XBox Live.

I've seen the potential the Halo series has, whether it be in game form or otherwise. Hundreds of potential stories to be told. It's a very complex universe.

You may not like it, but it's fairly evident that millions of other people do. It will still make money, and as long as it releases quality games, books, and comics, that's totally fine. Which, so far, on the whole, it has.

So let me ask you something- have you actually played ODST? Because, personally, it's my favorite. If you actually did play it, tell me- why did you feel it was awful?

No matter what your response, my point is, give Halo 4 a shot before instantly bashing it. Seriously, dude.

Well, say good bye to some of the best games around.

Grow up. Being a sequel doesn't make something shitty. Being shitty makes it shitty. Would you rather have a series with a consistently good story and gameplay type continue on, or risk an over saturation of "new" stories that are nothing but rehashes of other stories? Yeah, that does happen nowadays, but if games aren't allowed sequels, it'll get to the point where it happens to every game.

The industry NEEDS games with series potential. They're huge money makers. It's easier to market an already known name then a brand new one with every damn game. Without franchises, the industry would crumble.

EDIT:

This is the one that comes off the top of my head. I mean come on right? The motto for Halo 3 was "Finish the fight." It was supposed to be done. Over. They won't stop until they milk this franchise for every single penny they can. x3
Oh, you got to be fucking...

THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT THAT SPECIFIC FIGHT, which, by the way, WAS FINISHED. That doesn't mean that EVERY FIGHT IN THE UNIVERSE is over! I can't believe I'm saying this, but by the Maker, do people really still use that as an excuse to bash Halo?

The Tomb Raider franchise. As much as I love it because I've played it since it first came out pretty much, it has well outstayed its welcome. I'm gonna get the new game that's coming out soon but that had better be the last one. I mean, I don't know how many times they've changed Lara's backstory; from being disowned to her mother dying in a plane crash. The last two games just annoy me now with the story, ugh.

EDIT: Oh aye and Final Fantasy. I am sick of seeing it, I swear. Then again, Squenix are bringing out the new Tomb Raider game, lol. Mind you, I reckon they should hurry up with Kingdom Hearts 3, as, uh, ashamed as I am to admit to it, haha.

Also most recycled titles that Nintendo keep bringing out. I've had enough of Zelda. Lemme just find the SNES scart to start playing Link to the Past again, hah.

Or alternatively, how about no.

How about so long as people still want to enjoy a game for whatever reason. Y'know, as in, it's fun (surely you remember, it was that thing that used to be all the rage until somebody decided just having fun was beneath us) then we should continue letting them play with it rather than thinking that we know what's best for everybody.

How about so long as a company is making money from a franchise, which them goes into making more games, which boosts the industry and makes gaming a more respected medium, then we should let them continue making it rather than order them to abandon the notion of being a business and kill a lucrative series that they have a legal right to continue, and in spite of everyone who enjoys it just because we don't.

How about we stop judging games that you have not played and that have not even been released yet just because they have a familiar name.

The formula is simple really. If you don't like something, don't spend your money on it, but saying that a franchise needs to 'die' just because you say so, and to hell with all the people who still enjoy it as well as everyone who pays their bills with the profits from it just makes you sound like a stuck up douche.

haha World of Warcraft. Should have stopped at Burning Crusade Blizzard my man when we were only starting to see texture swaps and raiding was still a very unique and epic (-ly large) experience.

oh yeah, and definitely Halo. Halo 3 was the last one I really played and I think it shoulda stayed there. Reach may have been a good game, I wouldn't know, but I feel that story didn't need to be told, we already knew everything about Reach from the first three games and the one book that didn't need to be told again. As for Halo 4, new company and the video itself makes me want to cry out of mourning for what was once my favorite franchise till I went to PC gaming.

The Total War franchise. Now what's left is to tweak the games and make updated sequels of the same eras... Bleh. Do something new.
I think the franchise still has appeal, since the gameplay has apeal. It doesn't have an ongoing story and there are still settings to explore. They should slow down a little and thik of concepts they haven't explored yet (like the chinese medieval).
But I think the Total War franchise is more of a gameplay-concept which can still benefit from the blessings of modern tech and has still room for gameplay improvement.
Plus (just to negate what I said before): I'd really wish to see a Rome 2

Oh and yeah: Total War has no ongoing story (but history) which would be run down by to much sequels.

Silent Hill

This series hasn't been good since it left the original development team, someone needs to burn it and smoke the ashes in a fine pipe.

I don't have a problem with most game series (as long as they are constantly improving) but Halo needs to be put down. I love them, but Bungie made the conscious descision to move on, and what does microsoft do? They milk it, of course! I will object to all the people who are saying that Final Fantasy should end. The series continually adds new gameplay and story innovations and has yet to become stale.

Anything made by Nintendo, seriously. Mario, Zelda and crew need to let some new IPs take over.
Anything that really has more than 3 - 4 games at most.

Final Fantasy has some 20 or so titles that fall under its name, and they aren't getting any better with time, just worse.

Silent Hill? Stopped being good after the 3 or 4th( I didnt enjoy it for the most part).

Overall I am ok with sequels if they continue the story in a sensible fashion and not just make up some random shit to keep the franchise alive to milk our wallets.

Sports games. I guess I don't know a lot about them since I don't play many 'realistic' sports games like MLB 200X or whatever. Each new game updates the character roster? What the hell is up with that? ITS A SPORT! Not like you can change anything about a big thing like that besides minor fixes or details that should be patches or DLC.
