Lol, Yahtzee's games!
Agreed. Its the only game I havent been able to play through with sheer determination (the bonus thingie, where you have to play through all the maps without a break between, ofcourse).

Other than that: Trackmania anyone?

I've just seen some footage of I Wanna Be The Guy, and quite frankly, that game must have been designed by Hitler himself.

Apparently using the search function is hard /obviousness

I wanna be the guy is reportedly the hardest game ever. I think it is, to be honest.
Nah it's hard but can be beaten with persistance. Personally I can't get to the 2nd boss but loads of people have finished it.
Because there's no limit to life's it actually turns out to be an easy game just like bioshock
IWTBTG is pretty much trial and error, you figure it out by dying and avoiding it the next time.
It's not difficult.

Tetris, statistically you cannot ever finish the game, so, I'll go with that.

The first Red Faction on impossible is a beast. Can be done, but still.
Solar jetman on the NES.

The original Metroid. I've been playing video games for almost 11 years and that is freakin' hard.

Touhou games, only the official ones though, Dwarf Fortress and I wanna be that guy all rank right up there as ridiculously difficult.

Operation Flashpoint, methinks.
I spent a LONG time beating that game. I still haven't finished the Soviet campaign yet, but I did manage to get through the NATO campaign as well as Resistance. I'm glad someone else mentioned it, and I am glad I'm not alone. The mission where they just drop you and 4 other guys on Kolgujev and say, "Go kill Shilkas," is freak'n tough!

I would also have to add Star Trek: Echoes from the Past. It's nearly impossible to beat without some kind of map and some blessings/enchantments to guide your path. I tried to beat the mine mission by myself and I just beat it two months ago (I eventually broke down and found a map online). I had been playing it since I was about 9 (I'm 22 now for reference)!!! No, seriously... Look it up if you don't believe me! It's quite possibly the hardest Sega Genesis game ever made!!!

Honorable mention: Ghosts and Goblins

Kingdom Hearts, I was 8 and it was the first game I played on the PS2 I could not get passed the first boss, mainly because I used all my potions at the beginning and goofy and Donald always died.

GTA:San Andreas and their flying segment. The game just comes to a complete halt and I haven't been able to beat it at all. It's hard enough flying normally with their sloppy flying controls, but when they make entire storyline-missions based off of it, I find myself completely incapable.
Dude I have always hated that fucking flying segment. Never got passed myself. The controls absolutely sucked for that.

Hired Guns : The Jagged Edge, on any difficulty, really. Not because it was meant to be hard.

Because whoever programmed the game balance was drunk and stupid. (Shotgun = annoying, Kick = near death)

I don't know the name, but apparently back in the days of "Graph-ics? What are they?" text adventures, a game was released that was impossible.

Literally. They missed a bug in coding that removed one of the rooms you needed to pass through to win.

Not only one of the most challenging but one of the best games ever!

If you liked that you should try where they originated from - the 'Delta Force' series! One shot one kill - ultimate challenge.
