I never really "trust" any reviewer I just look at many different reviews, but I mainly look at Gametrailers, IGN, and Gamespot but I usually just look at what the downsides are and positives of the games not really the rating it got. I never see a reason to just look at a number and believe that it is where it needs to be if I haven't even played the game. I am very much less picky on some aspects of gaming and pretty picky on others.

Pretty much whatever I think looks cool. Mirror's edge got panned in nearly every review I've seen, but I thought it looked cool so I picked it up, and I loved it. I will try out a game that's been universally showered with love from everyone though, they usually end up being classics (Orange box, Fallout 3, Braid etc.)

I tend to go with Metacritic. Yahtzee is more trying to entertain and troll than actually give an accurate review and I hate to say it, but the reviews that the Escapist does are a little too eager to say it's a great game and call it a day. (sorry guys, but it's true)

With Metacritic, I actually go into the review listing and read a bunch of the reviews from every part of the spectrum to get a feel for the general complaints and the general praises.

I've found Yahtzee to be a bit disillusioning at times. Need to make sure I remember my own values and compare his review to those; I bought God of War III, though Yahtzee made me feel silly for wanting to for a few minutes there. >_>

The GamesRadar people.

They had the balls to give New Super Mario Bros Wii a 7. And ODST a 7.

Nothing. Since about last year, after being sick of reviewers leading me this way and that, I vowed that from now on, I would get games based on gut instinct. And, weirdly enough, it works! I haven't bought a dud game since then, I just buy games based on how I feel about them, and what I know about them. You really would be surprised how well this works.

So essentially, I trust me.
Wow, you buy games based on what you know about them? Look out people this guy's got it down pat.
Enough with the sarcasm, it works. There's plenty of people I know who avoid buying games just because Yahtzee says they're crap, even if they want to get the game, and in my mind, that's the wrong way to go about it.

Remember, you're buying the game for you. Cater to your own wants.
Yeah I'm basically this. Though I do look at reviews and they can make me more cautious when buying, I ultimately go on my own opinion. I may avoid paying for a game at full price, that as been negatively received by every critic, and I mean negatively... like mostly two's and one stars.

Though the critics I mostly trust are my friends. I mean if I go to my friends house and he tells me about a game he has and how awesome it is... I'll take it into consideration... though I guess the best reason as to why your friends are the best critic is because if they own the game... I'm sure they'll show you the game and let you play it so you can judge the game your self.

Yahtzee and Metacritic. Though I normally ignore everyone when deciding on whether or not to get a game because I can still get achievements from bad games.

I trust Zero Punctuation to give me a good laugh and good idea of whether I'd like a game or not, as it seems the honourable Mr. Croshaw and I have similiar taste in games.
I also trust it to give me an idea of whether I can recommend the games to other types of gamers, seeing as I work in gaming retail.

I trust GameReactor to give me a good impression of general mainstays attitude towards a game, mainly for work purposes.

I generally consider the reviews on the Escapist in general trustworthy.

I don't read other reviews, although I check review scores from plenty of places. I mainly do this so I can tell me customers the average review ratings of games I haven't played myself.

I use IGN and ZP. IGN gives in depth detail and ZP points all the horid things about a game out. When he finds it hard to gripe on a game, you know you've got a must buy.

I like Zero Punctuation myself because for all his harsh attitudes, he's guaranteed to point out EVERY shortcoming of the game.

It doesn't mean that you can't pick up the game and have fun (except for say Too Human), but if he points out something that annoys you in games (heavy cinematics, quick time events, anime etc.) you can avoid it.

i usually dont listen to the reviewer as much. i do like the talk of whats in the game, but sometimes what they dont like is what im looking for and vice-versa. so i love zero punctuation because its funny but own and enjoy alot of the games he so utterly bashed lol. all in all reviews just give me a more personal touch than say a trailer. to me reviews are helpful, but by no means taken very seriously.
