so because you simply disagree with my stance, it's garbage? Well, by that logic, your post is also garbage because I disagree with it. Or are you the king of garbage deciding? 'cause if that's the case, then my humble opinion has no weight in declaring your post garbage and I apologize for making such an egregious accusation.theklng said:lets choose the system that has more random, organic measurements so that we may sound more cool when we use the chosen words for describing life-changing distance comparisons.

the one good argument you have is cultural differences, but the rest is garbage.

Point taken, but to be fair, when you look at rulers, they usually go to 1/16ths. As stupid as that sounds, it actually isn't so bad, because such segmentation is easy to understand when you look at it from the perspective of cutting something in half repeatedly. 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16. You can make your own ruler if you just have the length of one inch, or add in your own marks just by eyeballing it. Ever try to divide something into tenths accurately if you needed the millimeters in a centimeter? It's nowhere near as easy.Heppenfeph said:So you are telling me that instead of saying 1.5 centimeters you would rather say 5/8 inchs? The metric system seems a hell of a lot more accurate then the imperial system.
So, why are you posting in here? This is possibly the dumbest thread I'll ever make!Plurralbles said:TLR
Anyway, if it's a closed thread then it was already a retarded topic so why did you even bother posting there? The thread's attracting idiots, obviously those idiots will end up quoting people arguing like we're on a Youtube comments section.
So Don't post in dumb topics.
Got me there, it was a pretty stupid topic. You should be ashamed!Signa said:So, why are you posting in here? This is possibly the dumbest thread I'll ever make!Plurralbles said:TLR

as the seasoned reader would notice, i did not explicitly take sides; i merely pointed out the flaws of your argument through sarcasm. but, given what you have said thus far in this so called discussion, my attempts at explaining myself are, at best, futile.Signa said:so because you simply disagree with my stance, it's garbage? As much as I love what Fahrenheit does for me in expressing the temperature outside or on my thermostat, it is a fucking crazy system that probably should never have been created. Basically a guy took the temp of a solution he just threw a bunch of shit into and decided to call it his own system. Why on earth we took that as a standard is beyond me. But hey, like I said, I like what it does for me in my day-to-day life.Cakes said:Can someone please explain to me what Fahrenheit even means? What is it based on?
WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!! dat der iz som mighty fine talkin' skills you have yonder! Now you git yer edumacated brain down on here and see if you can't explain why grandpa Signa can't understand yer word through his drinkin'.theklng said:as the seasoned reader would notice, i did not explicitly take sides; i merely pointed out the flaws of your argument through sarcasm. but, given what you have said thus far in this so called discussion, my attempts at explaining myself are, at best, futile.Signa said:so because you simply disagree with my stance, it's garbage? i also hear that this sort of behavior is popular among the american midwestern tribes, and is often used as a ritual to seduce the females (preferably under the effects of moonshine).
your examples seem silly to me. your thinking that an extra mL more sugar will make a difference to a recipe when you are adding 230 mL? I doubt 4 teaspoons is that acurate either with the sugar being piled on each spoon differently. anyway cooking isnt about following a recipe, its more like art and its the imperfections that make your dish unique.Signa said:snip

Signa said:So, since I can't whine and ***** in the thread that this occurred in as it got closed, I'd thought I'd make a new one so I could say my piece. After all 12 people misread what I said, and I'm sure there are others who will try to misread what I say now, so as far as I'm concerned, I've got a new topic and not a rehash of a recently closed one.
Interesting- I saw that originally and thought about calling you on it, but I decided to let it slide. Since you seem so adamant that you want to force the issue, well, here's some more food for your thought.signa said:Stop bitching about our measuring system. You don't see us complaining about how dumb the size of the units of the metric system measures are.
