Aeris in FFVII. I honestly don't know why, I think about it all the time and have yet to come up with a reasonable argument against her.
THANK you!

for me, Basch in FFXII (the only character for whom i had no sympathy)
Seymour in FFX (such a magnificent villain, exceptthat hes voiced by mickey mouse)
Cait sith in FFVII (reeve is a ****)
everyone in Altair's way that keeps him from Mercer-ing the holy land

Playing Jak and Daxter again, I realize that Daxter is actually a douchebag who I don't want to save.

Princess.

Arrogant little cockroach.

Luckily I have a high speech skill and can enjoy bullying her and making her cry.

The Adoring Fan in Oblivion.

I know he was designed to be annoying but its the only time i've ever gone out of my way to torture a videogame character.

Special mention goes to Rose from MGS2. I wanted to pimp slap her to death for her constant codec calling and generally pissing me off.

I stopped playing that game right about the point where she started to nag you about your anniversary.

Quite a few:

First of all, Collette from Tales of Symphonia. I didn't mind her cliched character, but GOOD LORD THAT VOICE ACTOR MADE ME HATE AS I HAVE NEVER HATED BEFORE. I cheered when she lost her voice.

Yukari in Persona 3. She just got annoying with her... prepiness? I guess?

Pepper in Future Tactics: The Uprising. Never before has a British accent been so grating.

Rikku from FFX. So "genki" it was infuriating, and her voice actor didn't help.

Anise in Tales of the Abyss. Just... urg.

Danette in Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. Although she provided an excellent target for Gig's snark, so I suppose not as extreme as others.

Estelle in Tales of Vesperia. A friend and I took to referring to her as "Other Collette" thanks to those pesky "morals" she seemed to cling to, and her annoying naivete.

Lina in Riveria: The Promised Land, for reasons similar to my hate for Rikku. In addition, she's such obvious loli bait it was painful.

And finally, Enrique from Skies of Arcadia: Legends. He was worthless in combat (except for that ONE MOVE that isn't necessary anyway), annoying in cutscenes, and treated like an important character when he actually did very little except follow Vyse around.

Claire in Shadow Complex.

Spoilers!

If she's an NSA agent then why the hell does she get captured as much as Princess Peach?

oh, and Rebecca Chambers from Resident evil, who was clearly hiding something 'oh, I have no training, I'm 12 and I survived in a zombie infested mansion for 2 days.' You're not fooling anyone missy!
If we are going down the list of irritating resident evil characters i think the winner has to go to Ashley in resi evil 4.

Kaiden in Mass Effect, his voice... makes him sound... it just grinds my nerves like nails on a chalkboard.
He had the same VA as Carth from KOTOR. And an even less interesting personality.
I recognised the voice but I couldn't remem the name at the time. Damn I really hate his voice in KOTOR, he complained so damn much I thought he was gonna run off and put on goth eyeliner and become Emo.

Quite a lot of characters from Oblivion.
The constantly failing assassin colleagues who "have been seen by guards/can't walk to teh city gates" in Assassins Creed.
Ashley in Mass Effect.

Tales of Vesperia anyone?
You got a problem with Vesperia punk?
Yes you yellow bellah no good cur! Pistols at dawn YEEEHAW!

The name of the problem was Karol. And Rita. And Estelle. And every other god damn anime stereotype and poor voice acting that ruined the great game play mechanics.

I liked Yuri, because he wasn't a chick even though he almost looked like one. And Repede, because he had NO lines.
