To everyone going on about the youtube guy: IIRC, he's reading out some post that somebody made upon the announcement that FF XIII was going to be on the 360. So, while he's not the one who feels that way, there's probably a sad, lonely dude on the internet who shakes with rage every time he thinks of those Xbox scum getting to play his beloved game.

I for one am looking forward to it, 'cause I wasn't going to get a PS3 and now I still get to play what's looking like a really good game.

you can argue that by going multi-platform square is expanding their market in these difficult economic times, and that by doing this they are ensuring that as many peple as possible get to share in the experience of their new great game.
PS3 owners should be happy that we "inferior"(/sarcasm) gamers get to enjoy the experience that is final fantasy.

but they're mostly fanbois who don't think like that, and want it all to themselves, and i really couldn't care less abou the game. there hasn't been an even half-way decent FF game since 10, and that sucked massively

Basically, the PS3 fanboys who constitute a small minority of the gaming community are pissed off because 'their' game is now going multiplatform. As a PS2 and 360 owner, but no PS3 in sight (why pay all that money when there are perfectly good games, multiplatform and exclusive, on the 360, just to get one or two good PS3 exclusives, even if there are plenty out there I'm just not into most of them when I have Gears and CoD on Xbox and I don't really need the likes of Drake's Fortune and so on even if it is a decent game, sorry for the really long sentence and rant?), I'm glad that Final Fantasy (the main series, not the spinoffs) is finally going multi platform. I don't see why I should have to buy a PS3 just because I like the idea of FF XIII, when I normally wouldn't bother. And the same argument applies to all console exclusive games, not just FF XIII.

I dont want to sound like a fanboy, but i probably will, too be clear I really want an FF that can last me for ages, for a lack of money allows me to get one game every two or three months, but could'nt they release DLC for the XBOX version, and not shorten the game time for the PS3.

...This man needs mental help. Quickly.

As for the whole debate...I agree with the majority of you. It's lame. Get over it. So what?

System exclusitivity (did I spell that right?) has always kind of pissed me off, actually. So kudos to Square for the decision. Not that it makes a huge deal.

(But seriously, that guy needs help. We should like, do an intervention or something.)

(Edit: I mean the guy in the video...sorry.)

.............

I couldn't watch more than 15 seconds. NO. NO MORE SPEAKING FOR YOU MR.CRAZY MAN.

Good lord, his very voice drives me to MADNESS. I could tell just from that voice that the rest of the video was not going to be any better. And when I saw his top comment on his vid, that was it.

As for this thread: Hooray for multiplat releases!

It sucks that it's multiplatform because it will be much shorter than if it was just a PS3 exclusive and technically inferior.
FF's used to hgave 100's of hours of gameplay, now it's multiplatform that'll be shortend right down to probably less than 20.
You have got to be kidding me. This is Sqaure, they're not going to do something like that just because its on the 360. You're also conveniently forgetting that its coming out for PS3 first and ONLY PS3 initially in Japan, can you really see it being less than 20 hours long then?
I second his statement: the game won't suffer from going multiplat.

I imagine it's because 360 players can't play their predecessors...

I personally don't care, but my boyfriend won't shut up about it. If square want to make more money, good on them.

Yes it may be exclusive on PS3 in Japan, but due to costs, it would be cheaper for Square to make it a measly 8gb instead of using the full space of a bluray.
ID said the same thing over making Rage. They had to cut it down to fit on the 360, and by putting it on 2 discs the cost of producing it across the main consoles is significantly increased. Therefore it is in Squares best interest to make it a much smaller FF than we have previously seen.
It's actually not in Sqaures best interests at all to make it shorter, as their FF series has been struggling for a while and they haven't had that much success as a company for a while. From the looks of XIII I would say they are pouring everything they have into that game, they want it to be succesful and shortening it and drastically shortening it (hence changing a crucial aspect of the FF series and RPG's in general) would be a drastic mistake on their behalf.

If anything you should be happy its going multiformat... I'd say they're going to have trouble porting it to the 360 and compressing the data down. It also gives you the chance to merticulosuly scrutinise the graphics and proclaim how they're worse (which they very well might be with the way they'll have to be compressed across DVD's).

Final Fantasy is Sqaures Magnum Opus, they don't mess around with series like that.

The only time something going multi-console is an issue for me is when one's release date extremely far behind another's, because really that's just annoying. I have no problem with regional releases (though I don't get why Australians can't get games at the same time as North America), just holding out for months for no announced reason, which has killed any interest I really had in Last Remnant.

Oh please, your honestly trying to claim the game will be significantly shorter because its on a different system... the only thing that might happen is 360 owners switching disks every 10 or so hours...not a problem to anyone.

Other than the supposed fact that the simultaneous release for both consoles in the West is what's keeping this game delayed for at least another year, I don't have any problems with the game coming out for more than one console.
