How about Kratos?

To be fair, Kratos doesn't really get evil until the second game. Even then there are people way more evil than Kratos. I wouldn't even really call him "evil." Really after the first game he just throws a titanic (no pun intended) tantrum because the gods didn't give him what he wanted, they just brought him into their ranks, made him immortal, and imbued him with powers beyond the comprehension of mortal man's.

There is nothing redeemable about this fucker. He rapes women, he kills for the sake of killing, he was more than willing to let others take the blame for his killings and he revelled in sadistically playing with those who he intended to kill. And he did it all under the nose of his commanding officer, getting away with it for about 2 years. And he killed like 3 main characters.

This exactly... although it's almost impossible to define and pin down the 'most' evil character, I have no hesitation about who I hated the most, and Lijah Cuu wins by fething country mile.

Seemingly invincible. Does what he wants because if you see his sword release you are hypnotized. Keeps someone who wants to kill him with him at ALL times. Will kill YOU just cuz.

I'm going to go with Yawgmoth. He started out as a jackass doctor who eventually became the god of Hell which then tried to invade the entire world and lost after eliminating the vast majority of everything living in it and raised the fallen as zombies (summary of him severely simplified)

Baraka

While Mortal Kombat characters have always been pretty brutal to each other, Baraka has always seemed to be the most cruel character. Seriously, that guy lights innocent civillians on fire and then throws them at you, laughing as they scream in agony and run into you, causing you damage. His Fatalities have actually never been that brutal until recently, but then again, the developers specefied that they had a few ideas that were too brutal, even for Mortal Kombat, such as a suggested fatality in which he would slice his opponent's midsection open and grin with his sickening maw as their innards spilled out onto the ground. He's a heartless mutant bastard, and I love him for it.

He had a decades long plan involving clones all just to make his enemy Spider-man doubt himself. Even the smallest advantage he can get he creates an elaborate scheme for. Plus he once took over shield and had super heroes hunted down. Also he is essentially the Joker with powers and hi-tech gear.
