Well, I wasn't going to get it until I heard GTAO was seemingly going to be pretty deep, but I'm gunna get it if GTAO still comes free with it via next paycheck.

That said, I may, or may not play the story side. I might try, though as having GTAO boosts my morale (Inclusion FTW!) enough to generally want to. I'm largely getting it for GTAO, though.

It sounds like there's probably going to be a PC version, so I plan to wait for that.

I've never liked GTA in general and nothing I've seen relating to GTAV had convinced me to pick it up. In fact, sandbox driving games are just really boring to me which is why I'm ignoring Saint's Row as well.

Me! Oh oh oh! Me! Over here!

Never really got into Rockstar games. I liked Max Payne 3, but that's about it.

I played a little GTA IV but found it to suck shit.
Rockstar has a bad relationship with movement, and they just love their big open world games but make getting from point A to point B remarkably frustrating. (But even if they fixed those things in GTA V I still wouldn't care, it's just not my thing.

I love the Grand Theft Auto series but won't be playing GTA V anytime soon. The reason is because I have a gaming rig and no consoles to play it on. I'll play it when it comes out on PC. I really don't like Rockstar's decision to prioritize consoles over PC. But then again, they probably make more money there. I can imaging lots of people won't like this decision and it may just bring in some ire which will not help them reach their 25M sales goal.

Three requirements:
-On PC?
-Not Always Online?
-Still interested in it after trying Saints Row

(I'm thinking of doing the series over winter break, starting with 2)

Judging from Gregs review the protagonist's sound despicable without cause, which I don't feel like I could invest in.

I found Saints Row more appealing with it's character customiser that allowed me to play as a female protagonist which I feel the medium sorely lacks. So long as they keep the character customizer, I'll happily buy the next series Volition produces.

I gave GTA4 a try a few years back after renting it, played it for about 30 minutes or so, but I struggled to get immersed in it.
I'll wait for Yahtzees critique to be the final nail in whether I give it a shot or a miss.

I won't be playing it right off the bat for two reasons: because I'm a PC gamer primarily, and also I don't like paying $60 for a game that will be half that price or less in a Steam sale shortly down the road :)

I'll be discussing it with my brother as to whether we get it for PS3 or wait to see the PC port. Neither of us were huge GTA IV fans, so there's no rush.

Unfortunately, buying it on PC effectively means we would need to get two copies. And can I be fucked dealing with GFWL again? So many decisions.
To be fair Max Payne 3 on PC didn't have GFWL (I have the PC version) and ran well. Not a perfect endorsement but it's all I have at this point.

OT: Well I have the game, I'm just stuck at work for another 5hrs and 30mins..... not counting down much :p I played it abit last night and had a blast :)

Seems meh to me, saints row took the genre as far as it could ever go and I simply have no interest in gangsta games so its fair to say I wont be picking this one up

Well, I won't be playing because my PS3's HDMI port burnt out, and there's no PC port yet. So I'm going to have to wait by force, rather than lack of interest. I'd love to be playing within the next few days, but if GTAIV is anything to go off of, I'll have to wait months. Not that I don't have anything else in between though...I've never beat Just Cause 2, and I also bought the two latest Humble Bundles full of games. Plus there's a couple games from the Steam Summer sale I never touched...and I just bought Outlast. There's also the Sims 3 is all that fails...and once I get my new gaming mouse, I'll probably be filling a lot of my time with Counter Strike: GO. So yeah, while I'm a bit disappointed in my forced delay with playing GTAV, I won't really be too bored without it for now.

My sandbox backlog currently consists of Red Dead Redemption, Just Cause 2, and GTA IV. And I haven't even started any of them. So I'm pretty much covered for the genre for at least a year, plenty of time for the PC port to come out and go on sale.

I won't say I'll never play it, but I think I might wait until the "Complete Edition" or whatever they decide to call it comes out a couple of years from now.
Same for me i'll wait till is complete and cheap. Also I want to hear about whether they kept those horrible driving/handling controls form GTA4 or not.

GTA 3 was my first open world game, I found it fun but a little too realistic. As long as I can't go on a killing spree without a policeman busting me I won't buy or play another GTA game. Also is the driving still awful?

Also Saints Row the third was so good I bought the fourth one.

Nope.
Reviews I don't care about, game simply doesn't look worth the $60, i'll wait till the "super ultra mega DLC filled GOTY (because Rockstar said so!)" edition. Until then funds will go to Dark Souls 2.

Also the fact that yet again there is NO. GODDAMN. JETPACK. is a major turnoff. :'(
brb revisiting San Andreas for good times.

The game looks immensely fun, but I'm sick of the way the series continues to portray female characters. So there, I'm not gonna be playing this one.

Not till its half price or less because GTA writing only has two speeds: knock off or freaking terrible. When its just straight up stealing from movies(like the story elements and characters Vice City just takes from Carlito's Way and to a lesser extent Scarface) its mostly ok but the movies do it better, when it leaves the beaten path it tends to just be freaking horrendous.
Vice City is supposed to be a homage to those movies in some way. Just like San Andreas borrows from Tarantino movies and GTA V looks to take some parts from Heat.
Django is an homage to Spaghetti Westerns but as far as I know it doesnt take scenes and characters wholesale from any particular one.(besides of course the original Django theme.) The Rockstar writers idea of homage is very similar to the "Disaster Movie" writers idea of parody. This extends to Max Payne 3 which had the same writers. It's a cheap knock off of Tony Scott's Man on Fire. And I would be able to deal with that if every original idea to enter their minds wasn't aweful. I can't escape the feeling im playing a bad knockoff of a movie I watched whenever I play a rockstar game.

I probably won't becuase I'm through buying games for my PS3/360. Ever since I discovered cheap bundles and PC sales I can't justify the cost for console games anymore. GTA IV was a huge disappointment to me as well, so I'd only consider it if this one gets extremely good reviews/feedback. Should I ever feel like getting some GTA action I'll just start up Sleeping Dogs.

My backlog is getting way out of hand too.
